FPFS5: Through the Window

DSC04770

Here is a small part of the speech that Uncle Dracula made for the All-Vampire Conclave at Transylvania. The same is part of the Grand Vampire Studies syllabus which has been approved for eighty seven percent of the vampire academies around the lands that operate between the humans. It was titled “Looking Through the Window During the Season of Chaos and Destruction”, and the Vampire Bat has chosen to share this one here. If you have any problems with the same, you are free to travel to the Dracula Castle and give him your opinion.

“…..still, it has been my duty and privilege to make sure that we get to equality as soon as possible. Do forget what I said before the word ‘still’ though, because it is not really a word that suits the vampire leadership and what came before that rarely becomes the right point. We were chosen, and we are highly experienced leaders, as it is known. So, kindly choose to forget what I said before the word ‘still’. I do choose to see you as my equals on this day. I am chosen for this post by all of you only due to my experience, and we are equals otherwise. I have never forgotten that fact throughout my eternal life.

I want you to look at a few humans. They speak of equality, but there is none. You go anywhere and you can see the same. It is not there in the places of worship or among the people outside the religion who preach the same. There is only a life based on vanity which has no place for equality. People pretend, and in the end, they can say that inequality and hatred are my choice; that much they can achieve for themselves in the end. Humanity stands divided more than the vampires do, and the divisions will only increase as time passes. There will be more people who pretend to work hard for equality because that is to bring them fame, and they will be more equal than the others.

Then, what do these people who pretend to strive for equality really want to achieve? Is it your choice to pretend and hate? There are the some people who deny that men could ever be harmed, and that they could ever face prejudice, because these people think that men can have anything or do anything whenever they want. For some of them, men are not really people who deserve equality. According to them, only one section can be wronged. The biggest shame is that most of these people come from a higher strata and have found it easy in their lives, and when they see the common man who struggle with their problems, they have this tendency to preach equality more, knowing nothing of the struggle that a human being has to go through in a society which demands more and more.

They think that men are born with ease through their lives. Yes, some of them are, but the big shame is that when they look through the window, they can only agree to have seen a few things and they pretend not to be aware of a few others. They look out through the bloody window and see only the tides coming towards the beach on which they have parked their expensive cars with ease. They say that these tides are always against them without setting their feet on the sand. We see other people who are losing almost everything in the tides, but these people which I have mentioned never really see those who are certainly more subaltern than them. How can they see and talk about the same as they were born with silver spoons in their mouths and vanity covering their eyes. Everything comes with power, and these people are with the power of self-created blindness. Hypocrisy comes out of nowhere, doesn’t it?

All those who have used something that they have gathered through a certain type of reservation have absolutely no right to talk about equality. The true equality has to be checked right between every type of people, and if you are talking about one caste, community, religion, social/economic group or gender, you have no right to call for equality. Don’t use the past to justify your right to hate others. You learn a few words like patriarchy, chauvinism, nationalism, racism, misogyny, communalism, socialism, patriotism, empowerment and so on just for using them here and there, and starts preaching for something on which you have no idea about – what do you gain by preaching hatred with your evil minds?

It was never about hatred, and it was never to be achieved alone or for one particular group. The first thing to do here is to treat the other as your equal and understand that another person in another category can have the same problems as you; support him and don’t hate him just because you have a bloody generalized opinion about him. Can equality thrive when based on the hatred for the other? Shouldn’t equality have roots in love or something more lasting than the eternal hatred which is easy just for now? You can come to the cemetery tomorrow and I will show you what equality really is as you look at those tombs of…..”

I have been tagged by Maniparna to take part in the Five Photos Five Stories (FPFS) challenge. This challenge works like: You post pictures for five consecutive days (with possible discounts like sometimes changing to alternate days :D) and attach posts to it, fiction, poem or short write-up. It can be anything that suits your taste. I am also tagging my friend and awesome blogger, Anoop on Day Five, as part of the challenge, and this ends the series.

Bringing Back that Touch

*Here begins another story. All the photos of kittens used are mine, and are intended just to show “the touch”.

It had been a long time since they talked. It was the big day that spoiled everything. Nothing had worked as they wanted, and the situation had brought the worst in them. They were pretty much confident that nothing was to be done to improve their relationship. Each and everyday, they used to call someone who could inflate their egoistic sides and take them to another level. They were blessed with some nice friends who loved to see them in trouble due to jealousy about their happy life.

Even as his parents had gone to New York to visit their grandparents, her father’s home was set just at the neighbouring flat, and so it was easy to run away from home – even as she was staying there now, she could come back at regular intervals and take what she wanted. She would just go into their home when her husband was not there, and would take her things to her father’s home. She thanked God for such an opportunity, and hoped that she would be more awesome alone.

It was the story of the couple who was part of the biggest love story at the college or rather the colleges, as they studied in the nearby colleges for graduation. They met during a quiz program, and even as both didn’t have a high opinion of each other at that time, they became really close, and they joined the same college for post graduation, even as he had to change his major to get admission at the same place and she had to stay in the hostel. That actually went smooth compared to what was to come next.

As one of them belonged to the Christian Knanaya community which practiced a strict tradition of endogamy and the other belonging to a big Syrian Christian family with a huge, highly respected ancestry, sparks were going to fly, and they did. The former’s traditional hatred for love marriages and the latter’s addiction for their ancestry and social status had kept them away for three years until one day, a miracle happened in the form of his parents giving consent, and it was only seven months ago that her parents approved of the same.

“Are you doing this just to make us mad? When we agree to your relationship you don’t want to be in it. Do you want us to hate him so that you can love him?” asked her mother.

“Both of you won’t understand” replied her.

“It is only because we understood you that we agreed to your marriage” said her father.

“You know something? I am going to take all my things from there and is never going back to him” she added as she walked outside slamming the door with full force as her mother kept on staring.

“What are you staring at? She is obviously your daughter” screamed the father.

She ran into what used to be her home in full speed, only to ram into her husband dropping both of them on the sofa with torn the curtain over them. There was a moment of silence after the touch.

“Do you really think that we should become a bad example of a love story after all these things we have gone through?” he asked.

“Absolutely not. As far as you can do the cooking today” she said.

“Is it Parachute Advansed Body Lotion that you are using?” he asked while holding her hand.

“Yes, that hasn’t changed during these days” she answered.

“Lets cook then. I think I will try to make dosa today” he said.

“Can we watch P.S. I Love You today?” she asked.

“And after that, 50 First Dates” he said as he rushed to the kitchen.

“And don’t forget the curtain” she added.

There was never the need for words to find an excuse or show the love, and even as they didn’t look at each other for days, there was the magic of touch, a moment which once again ignited the spark of love in them which had gone unnoticed in the busy life. They found passion, and realized the ultimate truth that there was no lack of love, and their romance had not vanished into thin air just because of an argument – Parachute Advansed Body Lotion believes you can #BringBackTheTouch.

Story of a Purge

There is something about the new generation people. They are angry, not just plain angry, but so angry that they need to go serial killer on their own people, even their friends and relatives. In that case, what is the chance of the common man whom they witness on the streets? Beware, people; the angry young men can take you on, and be careful when dealing with these people. You don’t know what they are capable of with the anger and frustration which have been going through them.

Some time ago, I had read something about a group of young men abusing and beating up an older man just because they found his vehicle ahead of their “super” automobile. This can’t be considered much different from what the cricket fans have been doing to Maria Sharapova, and yet this is also a case of disrespect to the elders which is the result of “spare the rod and spoil the child”, and the parents also suffer from a child who is not rightly disciplined, and it is such a shame.

This is where the movie The Purge comes to the picture. The angry young men need to purge their emotions and earlier they had chosen Sharapova for the same. A higher option is surely the life of crime and this movie talks about the need for a bigger purge, which means that people won’t have to abuse someone at frequent intervals, like Keralites have been doing with Renjini Haridas, Sreesanth, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Aashiq Abu. It is a shame that it has become so difficult to control negative emotions, and the need for such a purge is rather disgusting.

Coming back to the movie, it has a period of twelve hours every year set as the time for the purge in which every crime goes. All things become legal, and some people will have the resources to defend while the others will just have to become the victims. The number of purgers will be a lot more than expected, and even your best friends or relatives can kill you. It is a terrible situation, and all this hatred and abuse which is going on in the Facebook pages is actually a kind of purge, a harbinger of something worse.

The Purge has lots of elements which should terrorize people, with the absence of any feeling of remorse or regret among the purgers, the blood and gore, as well as the declaration that these criminals are good, educated youth. That should bring a question about the point of education as we have seen what kind of words a group of literate people use on Facebook, but that would be another story. Here, the purge is about the absence of a heart and a soul.

The Purge has a terrible thing at its centre. The idea of such a purge itself is horrifying, but in the end, this movie is a violent movie with a message against all kinds of violence and has a stance for equality and kindness among all. We all have the tendency towards violence and it can’t be ignored. But the problem is that people only care about violence happening towards their own, or those who are kind of like their own. Otherwise, these people seems to find it okay, and it is impossible for them to realize that it happens both ways.

Yes, the purgers are the educated youth, and literacy can't bring anything unless you choose (screenshot from the movie)

The tendency for violence will only increase among the upcoming generation as they are introduced to the world of blood and gore at such an early age. They are not disciplined and live the way they want to. Therefore, it is natural to get abused just because some young person rams the car into yours and start abusing you even as it is clearly their fault. You can’t argue with them, as they don’t listen to the voice of reason, and the new tendency is to completely avoid the word of God.
