Fans and Nonsense

There is a coin that we have to deal with as bloggers. On one beautiful side, there are those good people who agree or disagree with us and appreciate our work or give us suggestion. On the other side, there are those people of the nonsense who don’t agree with what we say and and talk to us as if we have not right to opinion. When I write, I come across both, and as the comments are moderated, everyone only see those people commenting in a meaningful, decent, appropriate manner, respecting the opinions of others – the rest are those whose comments don’t get approved here. I am not perfect, none of us are; but we should try to be decent.

As I am a person with my own individuality, I can write only as who I am, and with what I know and what I have experienced. Arrogance is not acceptable to this blog, not only when you talk to me, but also to my consistent readers as reply to their comment. Most of the curse words and degrading talks are banned on my blog, especially when it comes from someone unknown – yes, there are lots of people who arrive with what seems to be fake details, to comment. I usually don’t accept their comments, except for some of the people who have makes sense in a good way.

Darkness spreads. But how fast can that happen?

Vision of some people are like this – they can’t see through it; a typical fan problem.

If it is something that lessens my readership, I am okay with it because mutual respect is something that is needed in a discussion. People without it are not welcome here, especially with fake profiles. This happens mostly with anything written about movies, and I remember someone making free abuse with multiple profiles in the early 2000s when I was trying my luck at writing. At that time, I thought that some local people were too obsessed with their stars, and what surprises me is that the person didn’t read the review at all.

But that was never just the local phenomenon, for the same had extended not just beyond the South, but also beyond the nation. There are people who pounce on us from different parts of world, and it mostly makes no sense at all when they start talking. No nation is free from such people. Some do abuse, and others try to bring a comment about their favourite celebrity being the greatest of all time, that too when most of the people in this part of the world never even heard that name; forget liking the person. May be they need to pay someone to write like they need. There will be people willing for the same, and they can stick to reading those posts.

I understand that some people find some celebrities to be awesome, even though almost none of them contribute to the welfare of their fellow citizens. They list the achievements of the person, but I have no interest in the same. The performance of one person as a character is not based on his or her other performances, what she does at that certain moment to the character and to the work. The truth is that I have never mentioned on my writings that someone is a terrible actor or actress, but some people find it so. They comes under many fake profiles on the same day to prove their points; it is nice to have many e-mail accounts, right?

But then I realize that I have written nothing about that person as these people suggest. The problem with these blind fans is that they read between the lines and find some word which I used and declare it to be against the celebrity when it is the character I am talking about. When I write about the characterization, they feel that the character is the celebrity and it is about that person. When I call something a mistake in the movie, they feel that they are talking about their favourite celebrity. Then they ask “why and how” here and there, but the truth is that I don’t owe them an answer unless the mask is removed. But can it be removed unless they can see things from the viewpoint of the person who writes, according to his location, his experiences? It makes one remember about the message of the movie, Life of Josutty.

There is a special option for travel; to row the boat to the middle of the river and jump.

Isn’t writing about what one feels is the truth that matters even when alone?

There are times when I write an introduction about a work and the blind fan is already on it with “why and how” questions when I clearly say in the end that more posts with explanations are to follow. They only see particular words near the names of their favourite celebrities and they pounce on it without understanding that it is something which has positive sides for the celebrity and can be expanded in favour of the person. I wonder when these blind fans will be respectful to those with opinions when all of us actually respect what the fans say? Is the opinion reserved to them only when they don’t even fully read what we write before jumping into conclusions? None of these people will get more posts about their celebrities because people with no respect for opinions don’t deserve to get the opinions. The cricket fans are doing really well to match up with the actor/actress fans because they think that their favourite player is beyond criticism. Actors, actresses, sportsmen and all become rich celebrities with lots of fans, and not those who contribute to the society with devotion and sacrifice. It is a strange world indeed.

Four Cups of Tea

The best incidents in the vampire world have always managed to begin with tea. The reason for this is that no vampire ever wakes up without smelling tea from the sleep or having that perfect tea dream which makes it the only non bloody thing that can be perfectly shared between vampires and humans. It has also eternally kept the werewolves and zombies away because they have never been the people of the tea, and it has been a title reserved for the vampires under the immortal clause 99A-2Z.

Yes, vampires do keep the people away, it has been the twenty seventh super power which they are known to possess. It has been officially recognized in thirteen realms of magic. But it has only did people good because the great vampire team has been mostly angry and none of them has ever fallen in love. They were always beyond that, of a higher existence. Still, there is that girl walking outside. She has been walking around with that phone for quite a long time. Who might be calling her? Vampire Bat finds her to be extremely cute…

Vampire Owl: You are going very far away from the topic.

Vampire Bat: What? Oh, yes. What was I talking about? Yes, the meeting which had the awesome tea.

transyl (2)

So, the Vampire Bat hasn’t been always into meetings due to the same reason. He doesn’t meet other bloggers, even though he has met a few this year as they were brought together by fate. Still, the Vampire Bat decided to get the Yellow Vampire Mobile and travel on it to the meeting point which was many pot-holes and a lot of congested traffic away from his place. But the Vampire Bat knew that the time has come for him to come out of the shadows to enter the list of friends belonging to the living.

Vampire Hamster: Excuse me, Sir Vampire Bat. Do you travel on a mobile phone? Is that the Asus Zenfone 5?

Vampire Bat: What? No! Its like the Batmobile. Kindly stop talking if you really want to hear the full story.

Vampire Owl: Typical question from a vampire apprentice who doesn’t come to the blood sucking tutorials. You please continue, Mr. Vampire Bat.

The Vampire Bat had the meeting with the Man Who Lives, as the world of the undead met the world of the living at the land which is known to mankind as Cochin. Then we made to KR Bakes where we decided to not choose the Puffs with the dead and had Vegetable Puffs in the name of the immortal WordPress blogs. There, we also had four cups of tea and discussed very interesting things like life before death, movies of the soul, Kerala and the Middle East, how to have a job and not to, how the bats and owls are doing in the world of chaos etc.

As the Vampire Bat was once hit on the head with a selfie stick, he made the decision not to bring a selfie here. It was actually an accident, but that too counts. He never really encouraged the selfies even though he did pose on a few occasions just because they were taken and his absence would mean that his immortality had expired. The Vampire Bat has asked Uncle Dracula to declare this stick as a dangerous weapon along with the silver stakes, but that is pending approval from the vampire elders and the Elite Vampire Club.

Vampire Bat: So, my dear vampire team, please say this together with me.

transyl (1)

Vampires [together]: We would like to thank the Man Who Lives, and also all his tranquility for bringing the meeting of the Living and the Undead at one place where there was awesome tea and Vegetable Puffs.

Vampire Bat: Please note this down in the New Vampire Book of Eternity, on page number thirteen.

Vampire Hamster: As you say, Sir Vampire Bat. I am going to work on that.

***This is the story of my first unofficial blogger meet with any blogger I have known before 😀 There were no photos taken, and so please adjust with the photos from the Official Facebook of the movie, Hotel Transylvania 😛

The Living Dream

Yesterday was an interesting Friday. I was writing something about my favourite domes related to the church buildings in Kerala when I felt that someone was moving around in the room. I didn’t check until I had finished writing, and then there was somebody standing with my cup of tea. Well, it was not someone whom I had met in person before.

“I know that you always wanted to meet me. It has been your nightmare” the shadowy figure said.

“Who are you? What are you doing in this room, drinking my tea?” I asked.

“You don’t recognize me? This is so unfair. You get to live through your nightmare and it still feels like you never wanted it”.

“Why do you keep talking about living the nightmare? Who are you?” I asked.

“You have been writing about me on your blog and all of your characters have expressed extreme desire to meet me. Yet you don’t recognize me. It is a shame. I have traveled so long, and you just make me guilty of having left my beautiful dark home” the figure said as it looked outside through the window.

“Uncle Dracula? No, he has been omnipresent. There is nobody from the vampire team. It is you. It is you whom each and every one of my characters wanted to see. You are Lady Death” I finally figured something out.

It is to the insides of Earth that we have to return, for we are dust.

Believe in Lady Death, because she knows how to make you believe.

“There you are. You had to figure that out some time. After all, I have been watching you, along with your guardian angels” she said in a relieved tone.

“But shouldn’t that be a dream, and not a nightmare then? Unless you are here to take my soul to the other world. I have been living a useless life on Earth according to a few people. I hope that you haven’t come to please them” I had my doubts.

“No, I have just come here for a friendly chat. It is boring there at the other dimension. There is so much negativity around. Yes, people there are even more negative than you are. Well, they are dead and I am just throwing people into boiling oil. So, you can’t really blame them for being negative”.

“Why do you boil them in oil? Do you eat them?” I asked a doubt which I had for a very long time.

“No! It is just the most common method of eternal torment. A lot of living humans are also given clues about it in their nightmares. I like it more than the others. It is my personal favourite. I leave the others to the minions and my evil twin sister” she added with pride.

“I have heard that there are contributions from insects, wild animals and unknown demonic creatures”.

“Yes, they also ask for a chance to contribute. You know that we have a tough job to do. It just can’t be done by our small team. So we outsource the punishments of the other world to some of the lesser known demons who work for luxurious one night stay inside the hell fire. They love the hell-fire like you people love an air-conditioned room” she said.

“I heard that the Ninth Circle is the worst. It hasn’t changed, right?” I asked her.

“Yes, my evil twin sister is in charge there. Yes, she proves that she is my evil twin sister with her work there. I like calling her that. It makes me feel so much filled with goodness”.

“I hope she stays there then. What I don’t understand is that why you are here when you can do many other things to get rid of your boredom”.

“Well, I know that it was your nightmare to see me. You know my special skills” she said.

“No, it was my dream, not a nightmare. It is not even close to being a nightmare”.

“In our world, we call nightmares as dreams and vice versa. You can simply say that this is ‘A Writer’s Wildest Dream Come True’ for a change” she said.

The beauty of fire on the sky can't be ignored by any camera.

Lady Death is a figure which arrives to compliment the sunset of your lives.

“I understand. You don’t really have the dreams which are not nightmares, do you? So, will you wait for a few minutes so that we can go for a movie together at a multiplex and also have some expensive tea from a mall? Did you watch Mission: Impossible 5: Rogue Nation? Or Premam which is the kind of movie which you won’t get there? I am ready to watch these movies again – what do you say? Yes or no?” I asked while looking for the movie shows at BookMyShow.

I found the shows of the two movies with the best timings, locations and rates. But when I turned around, she was not there to be found. The empty tea-cup was the only thing left. But I was already expecting her to leave at any moment because the world of the dead is a very busy place; a lot busier than the land of the undead. It is actually a pleasure that she decided to come all this way from a land which is not directly or normally connected this world.

Well, what is a bigger dream come true for a writer or a consistent reader than a character he or she loves coming alive? There can be awards, and I love the appreciation, but nothing like one of my favourite characters entering the world of the living. I am sure that at least some of you will agree to this. This is what ‘A Writer’s Wildest Dream Come True’ means.

Creative Blogger Award

Ranju has nominated me for the Creative Blogger Award yesterday as I awaited the release of Mission Impossible 5 in India counting down to today. Thank you Ranju 🙂 May the vampire blessings be always with you 😀

Here are the rules:

  • Thank the one who nominated you
  • Nominate other bloggers
  • Write 5 random facts about yourself

5 Random facts about me:

  •  I look at people getting married, and parents of friends and relatives boasting about the jobs of their sons and daughters; and I usually hope that they take their parents with them rather than leaving them in Central Kerala to bother me.
  • Watching horror movies give me so much of a relief from these; it makes me realize that worst things can happen and this is kind of better. Yes, do watch those horror movies regularly because they prepare you to face the horrors of the world 😀
  • I haven’t combed my hair for the last eight years. I have never cared much about it. I have been completely against a particular hairstyle defining my style. I also cut my hair late, like once in two months or so spending Rs.70 for it.
  • I don’t like buying new clothes. I feel that I have enough of them for eternity. Still, if one of the relatives want to buy me one, I wouldn’t say no. I only try the dark ones; there is no shirt or t-shirt with light colours in my room.  Otherwise, I haven’t really bothered about what to wear.
  • I have a good record of keeping on drinking tea, but my Paneer Masala Dosa eating record is at more than one per day since last March end. I hope to keep this record at the same level for a long time. I have had more than half of it from Saravana Bhavan. I had Paneer Masala Dosa from Delhi too.

Here is my list of creative bloggers:

Archana @http://drishti.co
Amreen @https://painttheworldwithwords.wordpress.com
Tara @http://www.crimsonapril.com

Not the Centre of the World

Some people think that they are the centre of the world, and everything should revolve around them. I don’t mind if they are made the sun and all the other lesser people who are the planets had actually wandered around, heating the tea on the sun’s head and drinking the supernova brand of the drink. I have had the privilege and honour of having a lot of such people around me, but there are only a few things which have surprised me more these days. *The images used in this blog post are from the wikipedia page of the solar system.

I don’t usually go to any forums, and I have kept that policy going for years. I am not that much of a talker, and interaction has never been my special ability. But one day, I became curious, and thought that I had to see what the fellow bloggers would be talking about, and then I realized that the blogger world doesn’t have that much of the radiance that I thought it had. Yes, I had believed that almost all the bloggers wrote for the same reason – to bring to light your ideas, memories and feelings (not considering previews, reviews and such stuff), but it turns out that it is not that much there.

I am so big, everyone else is so small; how can I not win a contest?

I am so big and awesome; how can I not win a contest? Some people choose to wonder.

Yes, it was the only reason why I started all of my blogs. My first two blogs were in blogspot which I used for my personal thoughts as well as about the world. I also had two other blogs which had fictional stories which I connected to my life as well as the movies I watched. Then I settled with four blogs at wordpress which I still have. I started the first one for my wander quests and the next one for my movie love. The third one was futuristic fiction in which characters reflected my philosophy, and this last one is about random thoughts.

Coming back to my point, don’t we all write to satisfy our need to write? I thought that it was why people started blogs. I agree that there are people who write to get paid, but isn’t the love for writing the most important thing? Then you ask about writing for contests. Well, we shouldn’t sacrifice our ideas for that. The participation should be because we have another challenging topic to write on, and not just for material benefits. When I am given a topic, I am happy that it is given to me. Even at the college, when I got an assignment, I was extremely happy.

Yes, we should expect the prize, whatever it is. But we can’t always expect to win something. You win something at times, and there are occasions when you win nothing after trying too hard. It is the way of life. Sometimes, you might end up winning nothing for years. But it shouldn’t mean anything. Participation is the most important thing and the one thing for which we should strive for, and the hope for prize should only inspire us – shouldn’t make us desperate, unless you are hosting the contest by yourself.

Respect the right of others to win and also the right of the sponsor.

Respect the rights of others, my dear pseudo-fire-starters – it is all part of the chain of events.

If there is a contest sponsored by a certain firm, it is your option to participate in it or not to. You might or might not win the prize. You should write because you got another topic brought before you and the prize is just something of a special motivation. Nobody owes you anything, and you don’t have the bloody right to come out of it with a prize, as if there is something like the certainty of death. I think that those who make ridiculous comments for not getting rewarded is no real blogger. Some people do talk about it in a respectable manner whether it is personal or objective – I respect that, but there are others. Your best reward should be your mental satisfaction and then the likes and those positive comments.

Yes, appreciation is a must. But it is not something that is gained by winning contests. It is something that is won in the long run by people reading your work and admiring it, getting mention for the huge amount of effort you have been putting into it for years. A contest will have its winners and it is their right to choose, and if it is a contest with a first come first serve basis an you were not fast enough, you have no right to blame anyone. Yes, one can protest, but in a dignified manner. We are not little kids looking to win prizes and cry otherwise. Even in some of the most difficult computer games, you win experience by just trying.

I have lost more contests than I have won, and I have often put my contest entries at the wrong place. But I haven’t complained and neither have I mentioned it somewhere. I should have contacted the support team of the website and asked them to change my entries to the right place. But no, I didn’t do that because I have self-respect and I understand that it is my mistake for which I shouldn’t bother the site’s team; and I can win something someday if I try hard – and I don’t consider my attempts a waste. I accept rejection because it is a fact of life.

Lets respect the fact that there are contests. There could have been life without it. I shall write on a contest as long as the topic has even a small thing of my interest. There is effort taken to publish a post, and I love to take that effort, because I am a blogger and this is what I do. There is no waste here and I choose not to hide my thoughts for a prize. I am a blogger because I write unconditionally. Even when the need for appreciation keeps honking at me, it is my pledge and my privilege to keep writing even with none. It is something that I have promised myself, with the certainty of a vampire drinking blood and a zombie eating brains.

As Indi(an) bloggers, We Blog, Therefore We Are – right? I choose not to challenge my existence. I also choose not to interfere with your choice. Keep blaming your stage, my dear performers; if you need to – but I don’t consider it a righteous move.
