Of Values and Culture

I wouldn’t consider myself among those who are termed as the highly acclaimed, successful people on the planet, or even in my extended family. But I have held on, against all things vain, and I have done that without losing hope. I have never been after titles, and never did I try to get a position better in comparison to someone else. I have been told that being good, and being fair to others is what matters the most. The same has been part of our culture, and success is something that will come to you sooner or later, as long as you keep the goodness factor alive, along with working hard. It is from the good deeds, that we make ourselves, and our nation proud.

There will always be the cousins, the distant relatives who have done so much with their lives, that people will always talk about how much they earn. It something that you will always have the ears to hear, and these people are certain to make sure that you are going to listen to the same. By any means necessary, more salary is required, and so is a wonderful married life which includes a partner with lots of money, and his or her family with more wealth. This is more of a deviation from what our culture has been. We are affected so much by the modern world that we have forgotten that our culture was not based on wealth, and it was all about the quality of an individual.

One would wonder if the problem is with the individual who keeps looking forward to only being successful in one way or the other, or with the society that keeps asking for the same. Growing in a family which has been so close to the Indian values, did make me wonder about where these qualities are going, during my youth. Maybe, the current situation has too many easy paths – but I would say no to them, and will work of my own to reach where I need to be; this has been my decision. There is a lot to do in this world and a lot to achieve, I agree to that – but I would also say that it has to be done in the right way rather than choosing a path which has all wrong letters written on the sign boards.

I am also not denying that the decision has been something that did prove effective for me in the long run. There were so many opportunities for me to go the wrong way, as the chances to lie and cheat one’s way through for money is quite natural in a world which has its people closer to each other with the social media and the internet. What the society has been asking was success, and beyond our culture, there is a new generation who are forced to take the easy way out, and some of them are really happy about the same. But I would not believe that everything is fair in love and war – it is just not the kind of saying that we can believe in, when we look from our culture and values.

Boasting has also never been part of our culture, which is why, the great figures further into the Indian history have been known less in the past, but have come to the picture now. We have always wished to live a simpler life, trying only to live fair and set a good example for a future generation. It is the same reason why, we have kings in our history who have sacrificed so much for their people, and it is on this sacrifice that our values are based on, even though there are still a lot of people who find it convenient to forget the same, and become the greedy, vain human being that has no part in our culture.

I would consider holding on to my values to be more important than stealing success, and showing off with my income and lifestyle. It was the same thing that I thought about when I attended one of those very few interviews which I came across during those early days after finishing my post graduation. I was asked about how good I was, and I replied that I am only that good as the resume says. I said that I would not go on to create magic all of a sudden, and I can only give my best, which was reflected on my qualifications and experience. That might be the only reason why I managed to get the job.

This might be the right place for me, or maybe it is not. I was never sure how long I was to go about with the job. But there was one thing that I was confident about, and it was that my life had to go on the right way, with the Indian values and culture, and not some fake ideology which has been brought on us just like on the other nations due to globalization, and the rest of the things that came as part of modernization. We are what we are, and we have our roots; it tells us to be true to ourselves and to the others; to lead a simple life, and to value humanity over wealth. It is how the hermits have earned so much respect in our history; we are a civilization that are beyond accumulation of wealth. It is how the trust is built, and a better world is constructed.

The same is reflected in Lufthansa’s TVC that is #MoreIndianThanYouThink.

What I Shall Not Do

I hereby make a promise that I won’t do what I want to do or what the others want to do as long as those things are on this list of what not to be done in 2016. If I don’t want to do these things, I surely won’t do them either. If it is impossible to do these things, I shall keep myself from doing them with happiness. If something special comes up related to these things, that won’t matter too. Okay, here are the five things that I won’t do in 2016. This is the not-to-do list and the great anti-resolution resolution which I am coming up with.

1. I shall not watch Bollywood romance: This is a resolution which I should have taken very long ago, and I did somewhat manage that. But that didn’t include the Bollywood movies which are not really romance, but it has so much romance that you will wonder why it is not known to be romance but something else. So many Bollywood movies have romance, and I consider it an unreal part which needs to be removed for the flicks to go realistic. I am looking for something which doesn’t keep going romantic all the way, especially when there is not real need.

Okay, there is the need for romantic movies at times. I won’t deny that, and I haven’t disliked all romantic movies; I did grow up watching Bollywood romance too. There are movies like Charlie which has a background romance of high spiritual and intellectual quality going on, along with Anarkali and Ennu Ninte Moideen which has the elements of true love and eternal romance. From there, these days we are introduced into those things which needs to have the words “this is actually love and so please do think that it is so” written all over there so that we will feel the intensity of love.

You shall witness the glory of Athirappilly Waterfalls :D

Athirappilly Waterfalls is romantic, but Bollywood romance these days is not!

2. I am not going to read fiction anymore: I have read a lot of fiction in my life, or rather too much of it. In the year 2016, the only fiction that I will be reading is going to be what is written on the blogs. Yes, there will no more comparison of the book and movie – kind of review like it was there in the case of The Hunger Games, Interview With the Vampire, Queen of the Damned and others. I watch too many movies that I forget them too early, and so adding these books to the list will make me forget the movie in a day or two!

3. I shall not sleep during the day from day after tomorrow: Yes, vampires do sleep inside their coffins, but this is twenty first century and coffins are very costly. Okay, lets leave that behind – I am jobless and sometimes during the daytime, there is nothing to do at all. So, I would choose to sleep when I am not writing. Well, only a small percent of what I actually write reaches this blog – so, maybe I should create more that makes it to light rather than keep sleeping. I have thought about that quite a lot.

4. I shall know no taste of coffee in 2016: Yes, I don’t usually drink coffee. But there are times when we accidentally land at some relatives’ home and what we get turns out to be coffee and as we had started it, we need to finish it. That mistake did happen in 2015, and for the same reason, in the name of cardamom tea, ginger tea and all the other types of tea available at Cochin and its suburbs, I take the pledge not to have coffee at all. Before drinking anything, I shall confirm with people that it is actually tea.

5. I will not attend most of the weddings to which I am invited: Yes, I had enough of these weddings which are nothing more than showing how much money everyone has got. To add to that, some people say that I am next. Seriously? It has been one year and one day after this was said – Did I get married? No! If they were sharing my blog posts that would have actually motivated me to attend their weddings. But if these people want me to get married, that is not a positive thing and I shall just skip the weddings 😛

Right From Within

The darkest day of the month was chosen for accomplishing this. It was the biggest mission that the Vampire Team had undertaken during their long journey together. They had fought the Great Pimple Overlord, the Devil’s Shadow, the Minions of the Lich Queen, Devourers of the Shadows and many more, but none of them could match up to this great objective. This was not just for the Vampire World, but for the whole realm and its existence which rested on one thing, as the Vampire Owl switched on the small dynamo torch.

“This thing is not working. What a ridiculous device. I knew that those human salesmen were lying” said the Vampire Owl which shaking the torch.

“Yes, it won’t work until you charge the dynamo. Start turning that lob to charge it” said the Vampire Bat.

“These are ridiculous inventions from the humans. We could have just borrowed that magic wand from the Potato Witch which could have worked without charge. I will get this one charged. Do it, apprentice” Vampire Owl passed the torch to the Vampire Hamster.

“I have a very strong feeling that this is a flawed plan and bring no positive results. Do you really think that this will work?” asked the Vampire Crocodile.

“Yes, why not? We have entered the projection of Mavis Dracula’s mind so that we can bring the inspiration right from within. This is a special personal mission for Uncle Dracula. We can’t fail in this. We will find a solution right inside her mind so that she will feel better and face her future with better confidence” said the Vampire Bat.

“Wait! I sense evil. My crow sense is triggered” said the Vampire Crow.

“Holy Vampire Lords! Everybody stay calm. It is the dangerous Twilight essence! How did it even get in here?” asked the Vampire Raven.

“Take it! Bring it and put it in the Anti-negativity Orb. We don’t want such things wandering around in her mind. It will weaken her true vampire essence” said the Vampire Bat.

“Done! But where is the inspiration? Where is the source?” asked the Vampire Alligator after taking the Twilight away.

“It had to be somewhere around here according to the sources” wondered the Vampire Owl.

“The Great Vampire Oracle is never wrong; it says so in our text books” said the Vampire Crow.

“But there is no inspiration! We had to awaken it and prepare it to be launched from within. This is real shame” said the Vampire Owl.

“Wait! What is that sound getting stronger? I think that we are being teleported back to reality” said the Vampire Bat.

“And, then we were back without accomplishing anything in particular. Note this small leap for the vampire kind, my dear brethren because we are going to forget this forgettable experience very soon” said the Vampire Owl.

“Oh there you are! Hello, Mavis. How are you today? It is good to see you again” they said in one voice.

“It is good to see you all once again. I am feeling pretty good. But I have heard about what you people were doing. Are you completely out of your mind?” asked Mavis.

“I believe that these people are just twenty eight percent sane, madam. I am at around twenty three percent” said the Vampire Hamster.

“What? Why do you need to wander around inside my mind? Don’t you know that you people are my real inspiration? she asked.

“But it was just a few days ago, that Uncle Dracula had asked for…”

“Forget him. He is too worried about everything, and so are you people. I have enough inspiration inside my mind, and what I need here is you people who are my family” she added.

transyl (2)

“See, I had told you that the first time this idea came up” said the Vampire Owl.

“Yes, you told the exact opposite and we were forced into this idea” said the Vampire Bat.

“It is okay, people. I am inspired. There is absolutely no problem at all. You can tell that to my dad and have a special blood feast tonight” she said.

The Vampire Team left the room, and Mavis Dracula wondered about what it really meant to be inspired from within. She knew that all that she needed to be inspired was the family. It was her strength and it was the boost to her soul. Meanwhile, Dracula was sitting on the branch of a tree outside the tree and wondering if what she said was true.

Photos from the Past

On this day which has me looking at the memories again, I will bring a few photos which reminds of a few things which I really miss these days. Some of them are clearly not going to come back, and the rest also might not return, and so I will post these pictures and keep thinking about it. We are planning to include a Vampire Butterfly for creating a Butterfly Effect and do what happened in the movie with the same name, but until then, we will keep this on the list of nostalgia.

1. The Random Search: There was always this random search as part of the continuous journeys. But it has completely disappeared right now. On the following image, you can see where we reached during one of our journeys with navigation using a printed map. It was the time when I had no internet connection on my mobile phone and there was also no Google Maps. Well, there was such a time, and it is good to remember.

2. The Legend of Kochi Tuskers Kerala: I will always miss Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the IPL. The games at Cochin were so much fun. I watched three matches of the IPL with seven different people. Out of the three, they only won one and that was against Kolkata Knight Riders. But it was good at that time. Nowadays, thinking about IPL itself gives a shock. Well, the past and the present are not even close in this case.

3. The Kochi Biennale Memories: There was that time when I visited Biennale four times during one season, and then there was the return of the Kochi Biennale two years which had me not visiting at all. I felt strange about it, but still couldn’t visit the program at all. Well, this is not the end, but for some reason, I doubt if I would visit it again. May be I am just doubting for no reason – may be there is a chance.

DSC05548

4. The Missing Ceylon Tea: During my visit to Sri Lanka, I bought a lot of packets of Ceylon Tea and distributed them among my friends. Well, what weighed more than the most of the other things during my return were those packets of tea. It is that tea world that I miss a lot! Yes, I have been to other places with a lot of tea after that, but nothing matched the tea at Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka.

DSC02050

5. The Cricket of the Past: I will define my lost love for cricket with just one picture. This was there at the Oberon Mall during the last Cricket World Cup, and despite not caring about cricket much these days, I wanted to think about some cricket. Yes, it was part of nostalgia, and this past will no longer come back. Considering the state of cricket these days, may be it is good to forget them all completely.

6. The Great Halloween Night: We have always loved those Halloween nights, because it was the time to get those costumes related to horror, get some collection and donate them to the poor. Yes, it was how our youth club used to work – not much during the other festivals or days of significance, but full power for the Halloween. Those were the funnier days, and we are glad that the horror was not contaminated 😛

Tribute to Haiku Queen

I have known only a few people during my early days of WordPress blogging, and even on the day of the third anniversary of Travel Diaries and the first of Movies of the Soul, I had only two as friends. For most of my blogging time, I have had only two people on my friends list in the social networking sites, and the second blogger to be my friends list was Maniparna. I have been reading her posts since early 2014, during those days when she had another theme and a pet blog dog called Gulgul 😀

I have been thinking about getting a pet for a long time, and then I noticed the blog pet – it caught my attention first; then everything else; not many people got a blog pet, and I have seen nobody else with one. That was my strange reason at that time, but there has been a long list of book reviews and haiku which I continued to read as her Scattered Thoughts went on to become one of the very first blogs which I read consistently.

Along with those writing skills, there is also something about her photography that you need to look out for. Even though I have never really tried to write haiku or book reviews with the inspiration from her blog, I have always been inspired by her fiction, and more than that, her supportive comments on my two blogs, Movies of the Soul and The Tea Cerebration(s) . She has more than one hundred and fifty comments on my blog, more than anybody else.

banners

She has commented more than one hundred times on this blog alone, more than double of those who comes second and third, and she has done that so consistently – now that is inspiration to come up with more and more posts. She was also helpful in helping my early doubts with the blogging sites. I have been a very doubtful person in the earlier blogging days, especially when related to BlogAdda and IndiBlogger.

She was also the first one to follow me on Twitter and also the one before everybody else to favourite on of my tweets. Yes, Twitter came very late for me, and my social networking idea was limited to Facebook and Orkut earlier – so needed some help with making an entrance into the world of tweeting. We have also been the runners-up of the Godrej Aer Pan India Blogging Contest, and that was the first contest which I had ever had won any prize for.

She has a long list of contest wins and runner-up trophies as you can see on her blog. For people like me who have a slow internet, her blog is also one of the fastest to load. Her work has inspired me for the last one year and a few months; she deserves to be nominated at WIN 15 and I don’t really need to hope that she nominates her blog in any of those categories there because I know that she already did that and also got her badge 😀 Here is one my favourite Haiku works at her place.

Uncle Dracula has said a quote about immortality which I shall not bring to anybody’s attention. Still, a few things are forever, and even though I shall attribute immortality more to the Team Vampire, there is nothing like a Haiku on a beautiful monsoon day with rain drops creating poetry. Long Live the Haiku Queen! Here is a tribute to the inspirational blogger, and Queen of Haiku! #YouMakeMeWIN

I’m blogging for #YouMakeMeWIN to honour a blogger who has influenced me and deserves to be nominated at WIN15.

*The Vampire Bat and the Vampire Owl sends their regards 😀

Five Colours of UCC

This is the time of Holi and it has brought us the season of colours again. India has won the fourth match in a row in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, defeating West Indies chasing an easy target. Even the Undertaker seems to be making a return to the WWE. Therefore, it is time to bring back the colours of life too, and in my case, it is clear that they are part of my time in Union Christian College at Aluva.

1. White: The first colour easily visible at UCC is white, which is part of almost every building there, and also visible through the first rays of the sun which was often witnessed by me who reached there as one of the first students of the day, very early morning. I would like to remember my friend and classmate Vysakhi who gave some competition on reaching the college first, but no, I was there first to witness the white light, except for the cats and dogs which wandered around at times.

The rays of the sun welcomed me almost everyday.

The rays of the sun welcomed me almost everyday, and there was a good start.

2. Brown: Not really the exact colour for everything, but this symbolizes the time of study; it is not only the colour of the desks and chair, but also of tea and the beautiful lands of UC College after the rain. UCC is too beautiful to describe on a beautiful rainy day of the lovely monsoon, and this is when you look outside from the college canteen with a glass of tea with cutlet or onion vada. Tea, classes and the land during the rain makes the second colour, or what made this universe so colourful.

The classroom itself has the special charm that we all need.

The classroom itself has the special charm that we all need – no modernity needed.

3. Green: Here is the colour of the campus which is more green than anything else with its trees and all the blessed greenery of nature just adds to our need to study at the college. It is indeed a green campus – once I had the photo of my car parked around the college as the desktop wallpaper, and one of my friend asked me if I park the car in a forest or wildlife sanctuary. I take that as a compliment, and unlike some of those concrete college worlds, each and every campus should be like the UC College campus.

It is easy to work with green here. You can understand the reason easily.

It is easy to work with green here. You can understand the reason easily from this photo.

4. Blue: This one comes later. Even though it does show me being rather clueless with a few film theories and big critical theories in the final year and looking at the blue sky, there is more to this side. Phonetics and Linguistics had disappeared and I had the opportunity to do the seminars with the aid of PowerPoint presentations. Blue was the usual colour of the wallpapers of my Netbook, and my favourite background colour for slides. It felt good to bring the vampiric ideas out there.

Vampires have been mostly associated with blood red, but not this time.

Vampires have been mostly associated with some bloody red, but not this time.

5. Silver: The great silver lining follows the darkest of clouds, and by the end of the college, the happy ending was that I could finally submit this thesis on “Vampire as a Cultural Construct”. This didn’t really work out that well with the viva, but I got caught up with that silver lining and realized that the scores don’t define me, and I still did good. The cover of the thesis work was chosen by me to be silver despite most of the others preferring the golden cover.

And everything finishes with the silver lining of the great vampire thesis.

And everything finishes with the silver lining of the great vampire thesis.

I am glad to have had colours in my college life, even though it has never been like what many people would define an eventful life of college. It was different and it was surely serene. The colours of that part of life were not those which were visible to everyone. They were mine, and there were five. May be there could have been subdivisions, but I am contented with these which have come to my mind. After all, life needs its colour, and nostalgia is a good provider of the same even after the best of times move away. Happy Holi!

Making that One Decision

The memories go to those diabolical moments a few years back, and there I was caught in a giant web which had more than huge spider supplying dilemma creating a series of more and more complex webs. There was the need to make a choice, but I couldn’t go on with it. My decision making ability had hit some new lows right there, making me wonder if the correct decision could ever be made me with the presence of perpetual doubts which never seemed to end.

It was the time when I was turning into full-time cynic from a part-time doubter. I was caught within the web of BCA which I neither liked or was ever interested in. I never really studied and went to the college very rarely. Even during the classes, I spent too much time on the sleepy side, never really making an attempt to understand anything. It seemed to be an bottomless pit of nothingness where I was staying for almost no reason, and the number of webs were only growing, only to make things worse.

`1

Life was going on and on like nothing really mattered. It was to go on in a never-ending manner in which I was to fail, collect back-papers and keep writing the exams to make it a nice five year plan. I could still not be persuaded to study better. Each and everyday, I would get on my Honda Unicorn or TATA Indica and go all the way to the college travelling those thirteen kilometres for almost no real reason. I even had no good friends and there was absolutely no point of that journey.

One day, when I was doing nothing as usual, and wasting my time as if time and tide waited for me at the bus station, my mother asked me if I really wanted to do this. She added that she should have asked the same question before I joined the course as suggested by some uncles, but that wouldn’t have mattered because her opinion wouldn’t have been of any value. She said that this was the time for me to make a stand.

It was not like I had never made a stand, but I have had the same opinion as my mother, that whatever stand I take, it is not going to change anything in a positive manner. I have had my choices of school, but my opinions were never taken into consideration. The points by some of the relatives and fake friends always made more impact in the decision making at our home. Even for Plus Two, I had wished to take the Humanities group, but I had scored too much to go for what they called the “inferior group”.

So when she said that I should make a decision on this, I didn’t want to do anything other than to stop this ridiculous course which made no sense to me, and with so much less teaching going on and nobody in the class really studying, this was going to bring nothing positive. I decided to end this procedure of a course which was going nowhere. I decided to go to the Mahatma Gandhi University and cancel this course which I did, even as most of my relatives were completely against the idea and wanted me to go on studying this forever until I pass.

I joined BA English after that, and with most of my friends of BCA still trying to clear the exams, she told me that it was the best stand that I had ever taken, and it is the first major positive decision of a great value that I had ever made. It is because of her words of encouragement and support that she had provided, that I was able to change my graduation which had a great influence on my post-graduation, making me want to be that PG graduate rather than go with the flow and reach somewhere not really fitting in.

The Loss of Power

You might have noticed that the last movie I watched in the theatre was on December eight, and I have only published two more reviews of two older movies which I had watched much earlier. I don’t think that this is closer to the end, as the Vampire Bat is running out of Vampire Owls, but this is as close to it as it gets. Nowadays an owl is available only on the phone.

I am not denying the fact that I have watched many movies alone, and going to the theatre all by myself has been part of my life. But the situation seems that nowadays I have to go to the theatre alone all the time. I don’t consider it that interesting, because I need opinions of the people who come to watch a movie with me, and it helps to make sure that my opinion is not completely personal.

Movies keep coming like the waterfalls on a rainy season (taken on my DSC W310)

Movies keep coming like the waterfalls on a rainy season (taken on my DSC W310)

Until the weekend before the last two, the Vampire Bat could find one person to accompany him to the theatre. But things have changed now, especially this year has seen too many of my friends going outside India for studies or work. There have been one friend leaving for Germany, another for Italy, one for the Middle East, one for the United Kingdom, one for Mauritius and seven for the United States of America.

The procedure was complete with last weekend as I was left with nobody to accompany me to the theatres. There are also a number of friends already at Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune, with no hope for a movie watching partner. The presence of the eternal NET exams and the never-ending question of a job also complicates things. Then there is the most awesome kitten, Simona the Lionhearted who asks for presence.

I had expectation that I might reach the one hundred with the number of movies I watched this year, but now it seems that I am certain to lag behind, with an improvement of the last year’s statistics nowhere near possible. May be I can get some of my cousins to accompany me, but I don’t have hopes on them, and all those friends and cousins who are married seem completely out of the equation.

The Vampire Bat becomes more of the lone tree (photo details as previous)

The Vampire Bat becomes more of the lone tree (photo details as previous)

I am also having more and more thoughts about concentrating more on this blog, even as Movies of the Soul remain my most popular blog, and it was the one which helped me to go on with something consistently for the first time. But now it seems that it gets me tired and lonely. I feel the a similar emotion as I could sense with Travel Diaries which hasn’t had a post from me for quite a long time, or The Divine Epic which has me posting once in a month. No wonder I am posting on this blog a lot more.

There is still the joy that one gets out of reviewing a movie, which has been more than what I have had while watching one. May be the Vampire Bat is even older than he claims, dating back to more centuries. May be vampirism is slowly becoming extinct. There is no beginning or end to my stories of life, but the Vampire Bat is an entity who hasn’t been too proud of his immortality. May be he can stick to writing reviews about those movies which have left the theatres and may be bring in one flick here or there from the theatre during some lone visits. He actually wants to watch one movie right now. Who knows what the future brings.

The Virus of Cynicism

It is indeed a universe of chaos, where there are more doubts and uncertainties than the world has ever dreamt of. We live in a world which seems to be governed by the Lord of the Flies and not by any ring, magic wand or a talking lion. In the human world which is intrinsically bad and inherently evil, there is still goodness, and even as I am surprised that there is at least a little bit of the same, there is such an existence, and a more significant thing is that a lot of people believe in the same.

There have been certain incidents which have lead me to feel that may be people can actually trust each other in this world. It is not that people are regularly breaking my trust – I am a cynic, because I have seen so many people going through the selfish path; yes, we all might choose such a road at some point of time, but when we see that so often and as the only path that some people travel through with no chance of even one wrong turn that makes them differ, cynicism takes over.

The humans are grown in a world of chaos, aren't they? (Pic from The Matrix official FB page)

The humans are grown in a world of chaos, aren’t they? (Pic from The Matrix official FB page)

There are a few occasions when I wondered how people can afford to trust others so much in a world where people are judged by their money and achievements. The first one was when a random person who didn’t know Malayalam, English or Hindi trusted me to lead him to the bus station and into the right bus. I traveled with him and made sure that he was going towards the right destination. Sticking to my cynical self, I would have never even thought about asking a stranger, and might go around asking at least three people before getting into a bus, plus I would ask and confirm if he or she is hundred percent sure about it.

The second one was when a random elderly person asked me for help to withdraw his money from an ATM machine. But in my case, I wouldn’t trust any person to be even near me when I am using it. I keep checking my surroundings if there is some possible thief waiting somewhere, and if I can’t withdraw the money, I would just drop all the plans. So, as soon as his job seemed to be done, I rushed out of there without waiting for a thank you, because I was a cynic and will never approve his idea as to trusting the stranger. I was actually afraid that someone else might not do it rightly for him.

Then there is the case of people borrowing books from me, and it is not that much of a different case, as there are people who haven’t given them back to me and hence the case justified. So, when I give them books, nowadays I believe that I won’t get them back, and so if they return them, it is just a bonus. There is no difference in the case of CDs and DVDs. I have wondered which is that point where there comes the part from where we can begin trusting people. Yes, I do trust my good friends, but that trust doesn’t come from nowhere, but rises from situations and after a lot of time.

The same has been the case with me since childhood; when I was a kid studying in around the fourth standard, I gave a friend a video game, and when it was asked back, his mother asked “Why did you give it to him? It is why this has happened”. There marks the beginning of my cynicism. I have still trusted too many people unconditionally in my life, but more incidents have lead to the spreading of this idea about trust like a virus, and it has been growing inside me, not allowing me to trust people in general. I don’t believe that people have good intentions in general, and that idea is something which had a slow growth inside me.

But it has helped me to be more careful and not to expect much from people. If a break of trust happens, I will always be ready for it, and there will be no complaints from my side, and that much I can be sure about. I don’t have much hope or expectations, but I am more than just willing to do my job with sincerity while keeping my expectations low. We should do what we have to, and bad things will happen, but lets go on with what we do. We just can’t make people trustworthy, or be good. It is not within our power. It has helped me to try and be more sincere to others, as the world might not be.
