No Land for a Darkling

It was the time of darkness. It had spread far and wide in the last few years. During those years, what we had seen more than the rest was the spread of this strange darkness. There were people who resided in them, or rather creatures. They were called the Darklings. The history books will never tell their story because they are not part of it. The only thing which they are part of, is the further spread of darkness. They have always needed this darkness to survive, as it was an integral part of them. They satisfied themselves with the same during night and harvested its energy for the day.

The Darklings didn’t belong anywhere, but they were from everywhere. The creatures had spread all around in no time. They were not called Darklings for their looks, but for the nature of their soul. They have been trying to devour the goodness of people for quite a long time and replace them with decoys taken out of their own dark souls. They knew that a small part of their eternally dark, pure evil souls would be enough to corrupt the humans who never suspected about their existence even in myths.

20140904_145915

These creatures have existed in many forms, sometimes inside people and sometimes taking different forms. They knew no fear because they rarely valued their own existence, but wished to make it big. Their evolution can be traced from the greed of the common man, and also expanded on the pride and envy. They were digging a pit right in the heart of their mother. They knew that it would help them to hold on to their positions and have a significant amount of power which would help them to make more and more money in this world. It did help their kind through centuries, but the process had never been this direct.

This was more of an act of vandalism because they had ceased to care any more and hoped to find even a treasure if possible. They enjoyed this act because they had dreams of the Vault of Plenty being opened to them at the expense of the people of nation as well as their mother herself. They had all the ingredients which were to be put in there including intolerance, hatred, religious fanaticism, terrorism and many others which they had cultivated in a secret cave and brought to their target location on a magical spear which was spawned as the result of a spell called Politics de Heartless.

DSC00084

Intolerance was their greatest weapon. It was easier to come along with hatred because it could easily work on a personal level. They knew that it was the strongest of them all because a combined strength of these could make the rest happen with ease. The Darklings continued to dig deeper, and they used the weapon of intolerance to make the sides more beautified. Only by reaching the bottom of the heart could they target the core and plant the evil there with full strength. They had hoped to find the core, the Unity in Diversity, a lot earlier but they just kept going deeper and deeper.

After hours of digging, they had finally reached somewhere. They had planned for this day since a long time ago, and they kept their newfound minions, necromancers and shadows ready with their weapons of hatred and intolerance. But it was not like they had thought. The core was immortal in nature, and there was nothing that could take its unique superpower away – it was love and compassion for the other, which never vanished. The core expanded and threatened to explode, only to bring hope to the Darklings about replacing it with pure evil. But in just a second, it returned, and with that return it took them all inside.

Unity in Diversity was the strongest of them all, bigger than anyone had expected. Darklings never knew its true power. They thought that they could take over it, but they were wrong. Along with the Darklings and their minions, the core took with them, and destroyed the secret ingredients of evil. Darkness slowly spread away, and as things seemed to settle, there was a small crack on the ground which was left. A few children came to the open ground with a football and started playing. It rained, but that didn’t affect the game. The crack on the ground then stood closed.

And then Mother India smiled, free from all worries.

The Banana Pedagogy

There is something about the new generation parents. There is usually no time for everyone these days, and for the rest of them, there are just instructions. It is a busy world and they are caught in that web of timelessness which runs through modernity. They work as if the life is based on a book, and also comes with a list of things to do and not to do. Even with all their lack of experience and time, they feel that they could do good, but it is nowhere close to being true.

What we see is a reflection of the method of teaching which is used in the schools and colleges, to teach and to consider the receiver as the one to just hear and obey what all are told to them. But with this lack of experience and time, one has to wonder if parents of this age can really afford to do that. The education system itself is already messed up due to the same. The solution is to be the one to care, and establish that connection with the children just like how a teacher-student should work.

chocos (1)

In a world where teachers are chosen from an outdated BEd course or a ridiculous question paper which tests luck in the form of test supported by reservations based on caste, community and religion, the education level is already going down, and so the goodness has to begin at home. You can’t trust what is taught anymore, because it is just forced down your throats. You can’t be sure about how well your child undergoes the thing which is called education even though a better and more suitable name should be something else.

This is the time when anyone and everyone passes the State Board Exams with free A+ and also with all the available vanity, envy and avarice, as you can see flux boards everywhere shamelessly boasting about the same. I have known many kinds of boasting, but what we see here is boasting from the government about more students passing, and from those related to the students about the number of A+. It is a clear case of the lack of values and the reflection of the fact that A+ doesn’t give one a better standard.

chocos (2)

In this age when students don’t even get their text books at the right time, the parents’ support is more important than ever. You can’t trust the internet with the pedagogy, as you end up being a dumb student from IIN believing everything which is seen on internet remains true throughout life. Yes, everyone passes the tenth from the state without studying anything these days, compared to that struggle which the students had to go through at the time when our generation studied. But what do they gain?

The students are left with no values or even less wisdom and there is more chance of going the wrong path with inappropriate friends, and so buddy parents become very important in the present world of chaos. They have to make learning fun and make sure that their children don’t deviate from the path which is the best for them. It is more of a need rather than what is wanted. There are a few such responsible parents in the present world, and some children are born blessed.

A parent can easily help a child in building a fine vocabulary and improving the knowledge in history depending on the knowledge of the person. There are also chances in the basic science and Mathematics. Childhood should be fun as well as informative. It can’t be forced like some other things. Children got to grow up, and it has to happen well; for the same, the skills of the parents and the approach which they follow, become very significant. It is based on the childhood that the rest are built.

The World’s Expert

Each and every day, we wake up to see our problems solved by mother. She has been the expert for the problems of this tiny special universe of her child. She has still solved more problems than the biggest revolutionaries in the world. Yes, I had too many problems, and I made her solve most of them during my childhood. My sister has had the same opinion too, and along with the same, she had to solve dad’s problems – the newest addition to the list are those problems of Simona the kitty.

Sometimes, when I was thinking about the problem and the nature and essence of the problem, she is already there, having solved that and spoken nothing about the same. She continued to save the world like a Power-puff mom, and at the same time went on with her work at home and office. She has never boasted about the same, but her abilities were like no other. She was the captain of home as well as her office without speaking about it or taking any honours for her efforts.

moms (2)

She is there when we need her, and it is our duty to make sure that it works the other way too. I have known too many sons who had chosen to move away from home in the name of work even when there was no need, leaving the mother alone with herself and hoping for his return. I have known too many daughters who decided to fall in love and marry a man who is far away just to stay away from the tired mother. But it is our duty to stay with the mother when she needs us. I give four examples of her expertise here.

1. Finding Whatever is Lost: Not including the lost brains and hearts, she can find most of those things which we can’t find. There are those books, pen, watches, bands, rosary, wallet or anything which you need and can’t find – she is there to find them with so much ease. You might have lost all hope, but she has found it, gives it to you and goes back to work; as simple as that. There is the mother, the one who finds everything; the seeker who saves your day in the blink of an eye.

2. Solving the Hunger Problem: Your basic idea of solving this problem is to scream that you are hungry, with the knowledge that mom will hear this and shall come up with some magic to bring the food for you. But you will know that it is a bigger problem when mom is not around. Yes, I have managed to create things of terrible beauty when I tried something at kitchen when she was not at home. Even the cat who ate anything and everything ran away at the sight of my creation, which is why only she can solve this problem with the best efficiency.

moms (1)

3. Ending the Fear Challenge: She has been there to scare the fear away! She has always done that without thinking twice. The very sight of a spider or cockroach has always had her finishing them off as quickly as possible. When I was a child, she knew what I was afraid of, as well as what I could be afraid of, and got rid of all them very fast. She always used to tell me that we are not to fear any creature more than a human, but in our case, let that not be fear but caution. When I grew up, I understood that it was nothing but the truth.

4. Getting Rid of the Terrible Ones: There will also be those relatives who are worse than those insects which come into the room and refuses to go (the cat can also deal with them). But in the case of these people who claim to be well-wishers make our lives living hell. The expertise of mother include the ability to know who is the better person among them – after all, she have been seeing these people for a long time and knows how to deal with them. There are also some fake friends, and she finds it easy to know the truth about them too!

As we are celebrating our wonderful mothers, let’s also spend some time to celebrate the one huge expert when it comes to hair colour. Why don’t you get the Godrej Expert for your expert mother? All the Stress in the World

The idea of a #StressFreeMom – is it even close to being possible? You have to wonder. Yes, even though she doesn’t show it on her face, stress is a big villain who is always trying to bring the superhero mom down. This qualifier and contender for the super-villain title never really backs away from creating more and trouble with the help of fate. So, the superhero mom needs a side-kick, like Robin is to Batman and Kato is to Green Hornet. Even Iron Man got War Machine, so the need is always there. See the worry list here.

Reason #1: She is worried that I am worried. She is stressed that I am not stress-free and there is so much stress which I go through. She feels that I am not happy and I am so sad that I will make God himself so unhappy and will bring His wrath right down upon the Earth. She has been worried that I don’t smile that much, and it is a worry. But she is slightly relieved that I wasn’t a smiling child when I was born. Still, she hopes to bring the smile back so that she can be confident that I am not really stressed or worried that she can be stress-free. She is praying and waiting for the moment when I get a job, even a small one.

Reason #2: There is also the worry about health. It has always been there, and this undisputed presence has worried not only her, but also me. Yes, she thinks that I am not having the right food, and also not at the right time. She keeps thinking about those proteins and vitamins which I might be missing, and how my current food habits are going to hurt me during a later stage of life. She feels that I could be more responsible to my own body, and tries to give me early food so that I can have the next one much earlier. But has rarely been a thing of interest for me, and that provides stress!

Reason #3: I do spend too much time reading from the laptop as well as those printed books. Here, the concern is more about my eye. She thinks that I should calm down a bit, think, read and write only after resting enough. It is kind of right though; may be I shouldn’t be the most sleepless one around. The need for rest is there, and I have avoided it too much to have the stress and pass it on to mother. There was even that poem about “rest” which we had to study during the colleg edays. Well, I am planning a long rest for later, and so it will be solved on another day.

Reason #4: I also stay late and wake up early, and she feels that I don’t sleep at all. She feels that I am skipping the sleep to overdo the studies and it is affecting my health. She is stressed about the same that she keeps asking. May be I should have more rest, but I don’t have enough time in a day – twenty four hours is not enough for me. I have things to do, and there is no time, and I own no time machine. Even if I sleep, it shall provide me no actual rest, and may be there will be no sleep at all. Well, life is full of worries, and when we them, mom also gets them.

Reason #5: The extra stress is there, provided by those people who are not me. Yes, there are those continuous stress providers who are wandering around at all places where they can find the range. Yes, the mother is not immune to them either, as the relative trouble keeps hovering around. But they have been the least of her concern, but still they make that terrible attempt to make an impact. It is the unwanted stress that we are forced to have, and it just keeps following us – not just her, but also most of us.

It has been a long time of worrying, from the school days to college days, and now beyond all that. She really needs to stop being stressed. She would need a Parachute Advansed Aromatherapy oil massage have some rest as she takes it as her side-kick, instead of worrying and doing too much work. Yes, these days she do worry less than I do, and sometimes I feel that it is me who needs the massage. But as it is my time to worry and her time to rest after the grand retirement, she should do exacty that and leave the rest to me 🙂

I’m blogging about why my mother needs to de-stress with a Parachute Advansed Aromatherapy Oil massage for the #StressFreeMom activity at BlogAdda.

The Memory Collection

When I was a child, more problems were solved by my mother, even more than even those which were actually problems. She has always been there for me to find the grand solutions, no matter what kind of troubles were there. She has been the one superhero who has continued to save the day. She has worked the magic with all its strength, and became the one person who could make the day better. It happened very often, but there are occasions which can be remembered with ease.

1. The Friend Problem: The most significant problem that I faced was the friend problem. I never really had many friends, and even among the friends, I had been very choosy. It is something that was not easy in my case, but I made the choice from a small list. Even then, I rarely managed to get along with most of them. Then the major adviser was mom herself who was not just the first friend, but also the first advisor on friends. She knew the right person to be friends with, and the best friend was the good friend – and not those who pretend; I managed to learn it further with life experience.

moms (1)

2. The Teacher Problem: There was always the problem of finding the cane with teachers of the time. So, the mother would be a part-time teacher and work with the subjects to help and save the son from the big battle at the class. She had the time to be the part-time spell-checker as well as the Mathematics helper of that time. She made sure that I performed better at school even though it meant that she had not much time to spare after that. Well, the idea of rest was quite unknown, but she managed her part with the studies nicely, not only with me, but also with my sister.

3. The Dog Problem: It was a rather significant problem as it was rather a never ending factor as I had to travel around the Kerala State Transport Corporation Bus Stand rather than take the much easier shortcut. It was like a castle of evil for me (that was before reading Dracula), and there was this dog which I considered devilish, and always tried to block my way. It wanted to chase me, but I was good at running, and it only ran up-to a certain point of its territory. Yes, I told mom and she solved it – the dog remained inside the gate of the house from that day, I was glad to call it a bad dog from outside.

moms (2)

4. The Food Problem: This has been continuously solved the mother. Actually, there was no other person who came close, even though some of the aunties did contribute well in the later stages. There was nothing like having the food made by mother. Yes, it was quite popular in the class too, and as only one curry was there, I also developed the habit of using less curry with the rice – it has helped me with controlling food too; she had so much work, and she still managed to cook and not let us have food from the outside – that habit came much later when I was in college; otherwise, it was all about mom’s cooking.

5. The Relative Problem: This one has managed to be a difficult problem to solve, and it continues to run strong, and only mom has managed to keep its level down. Some of the relatives have been unbearable with their free advice. They are the kind of people who can do no good, but only bring trouble. The specialty of their advice is consistent comparisons with their children who are supposed to be better and more successful. The advice from mother has helped in avoiding them up-to an extent and not to care much about all the nonsense that they come up with.

The Problems of Problems: Mother has been expert in solving even the problems which the problems have, and she continues to be the best in doing the same. She was always there for us and remains the best, and has also been solving the problems of the father as well as a number of her siblings, along with working at the office, thus becoming the skilled multi-tasker. While celebrating mothers, let’s also spare some time to celebrate the most widely trusted expert when it is about hair colour, which is Godrej. Guards in Shining Armour

The Vampire Team was asked by Uncle Dracula to provide protection to the fairy godmother. She was threatened by the Draconian Reptile Order and the Dark Warlords after her long speech about being calm and tolerant. Her act of turning a frog into a snake was also considered a case of blasphemy by the former, and as an act of war cry by the latter. Three were selected to guard and prevent any kind of terrorist act.

Vampire Hamster: The bell is ringing. I think we should go because it is the time to disperse. But wait! Actually, why were we here?

Vampire Bat: We are here for guard duty. There are no bells here. The noise is from the Bleeding Neck Vampire LP School.

Vampire Hamster: The awesome BNVLPS where people get one A+ score free with a B+ score? Wow! Can I get an admission? This might be late by an eternity, but still?

Vampire Owl: Didn’t he know this before from the vampire study classes? We should have asked for the Vampire Crocodile instead. This memory-free apprentice is getting into my nerves.

HT (2)

Vampire Bat: He didn’t want to come when he knew that we were watching Lake Placid. He finds the movie very disturbing and anti-crocodile; there is a petition already sent to the Supernatural League to find a way to ban it confiscate all DVDs.

Vampire Owl: But it is supposed to a cool movie. We are watching Lake Placid? When?

Vampire Bat: When you were asleep during guard duty, and our apprentice here had forgotten about the same.

Vampire Hamster: Excuse me sir, but I think that there is a human coming this way.

Vampire Owl: Humans are here? All hope in this fantasy world is also lost! What happened to the respect for other creative dimensions and the limits of exploration?

Vampire Bat: May be he is just lost. The portals between dimensions are rather messy these days. A few days ago, we even had potato people coming through. We will just ask him to spare some blood for lunch and let him go.

Vampire Hamster: Halt, human! In the name of Count…count – whatever was the name and full title; in the name of the lord of all vampires, stop right there!

Stranger: But I really want to see my fairy godmother. Why are you standing in front of her door? Who are you people who are blocking the devotees? Are you her disciples?

Vampire Bat: First of all, don’t call her your fairy godmother and she takes no devotees. She is no property of any human. And second thing, we are not disciples; we are assigned to protect the fairy godmother from all kinds of evil presence, which includes you.

Vampire Hamster: Now I understand why we are here. All hail the fairy godmother! Do we get paid in Milkybars?

HT (1)

Vampire Owl: I think about him writing a PSC or NET exam in the other world. Well, this person has some explaining to do. Why is he actually here? He is not supposed to be running around through our world.

Stranger: I am here to see the fairy godmother as I have said already. I am here to see her so that I can change my world. My wife also wanted to come here and wish her on the mother’s day. But sadly, she had to visit my mother on mother’s day because the old lady was insisting on the same. So, I am here to seek the blessings of the fairy godmother so that my life will get better, and I will be like Cinderella and we will have a lot of wealth with easy life. She is more like the goddess and mother of everyone.

Vampire Bat: So you think that you could escape from your responsibilities towards your own mother and instead call a lady who does magic as “mother”? Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds? May be not that much in your world, but here?

Stranger: But I love the fairy godmother. There is no other mother for me.

Vampire Owl: I think that he should be impaled on this spear and we can use him as an exhibit – the grand old Dracula model.

Vampire Hamster: Excuse me gentlemen, but what is a spear? Isn’t this a lance that we are holding?

[Everybody stares at Vampire Hamster for a moment].

Stranger: I think I should come back later. Just tell her that I am a big fan of her – like a pure, high level devotee. I will be back to seek blessings from her. We have local spiritual and religious people like the fairy godmother back in our world. We love her!

Vampire Owl: Can you believe that? Who would he leave his own mother for some strange and unknown lady who does random magic?

Vampire Bat: I have known the extremities of being strange. I have seen too much hatred and equality to come up with a better judgment of humanity.

Vampire Hamster: So this is why we bite people?

Vampire Bat: I guess this adds to the long list of reasons.

Vampire Owl: Yes, cut the reason number twenty seven from the list and add this instead.

Vampire Hamster: Point noted, sir.

The Policy of Honesty

This is a letter consisting of all those which were said to me by my mother from the childhood onward related to honesty – consisting of a number of things which I can remember. I am not someone who is known to keep recollecting my childhood memories, and so I will adjust with all which I can remember right now and can beautify here. There is nobody like a mother to teach her children honesty and righteousness as they lay the best foundation.

My dear son,
I know that honesty might not work like you might have wanted it to, and in the current world of great achievers who make money out ofeverywhere with lies and cheating, it might seem to you that the other darker path is the more beautiful and stylish one. You already know that most of your friends and relatives are following a path with less shades of the light. It has become the way of the world, as the universe has surely taken a big u-turn in this century.

I know that you are consistently bugged by those achievers who consider you as an inferior person while they lied their way to the top or are lying about their achievements. But you just need to stick to your present ideas, those which you have been carrying with you for such a long time. None of your ideas should be without integrity, and you should pray to God with your promise to be fair and honest. You don’t need to be dishonest to make something happen. You have to keep your individuality.

You should be a good person rather than an achiever. Always the righteousness and morality should come before money and power. Do you remember the movie Pranchiyettan and the Saint? As the saint asks by the end of that movie, are those people whom we hail as achievers, really achieved? Do we know if they are really happy or will continue to be happy just with all those money which they are not going to take to the other world after their death?

They will continue to pretend so that a fake image can be presented in front of the society and they can boast a lot. But lets not do that. Lets not be the dishonest pretender, but the true contender in the right way. You don’t need to pretend and be someone whom you are not, because that is dishonesty of the highest kind, not just to others, but to your own essence. Sometimes, you will end up with the company to which you don’t belong. Better be alone rather be in the bad company; be honest with what you are and what you need, and keep yourself as who you are. You are one of your kind; stay honest to that.

I have been busy throughout my life, as work has demanded me to stay away from you for almost the whole day time. But I have always hoped and prayed for you with all my heart. There might be moments when some of those friends and relatives might tell you about how lucky they are to have their money making sons and daughters who are married to brides and grooms from rich families and still making a lot of cash together, staying away from home. They will boast about their big achieving sons and daughters who have left them for money.

No, they are not being honest there. They boast about the same, but are really sad and depressed that their children are not with them when they are hoping to spend their retired life in peace. But let me be honest; I am very happy that you are with us when we have moved to a new place and are trying to keep our retired life going. Let these dishonest people not get to you, because you being with us throughout your life is the best things that has happened to us. Let the liars go on with their lies, but you should be honest and stay with your values, never trying to outshine them. Let the others lie and lie until the truth comes out of their mouths in the end.

A Letter on Integrity

I believe that there has been enough horror on this blog to make you feel that when I talk about the mummy, it will be related to the Egyptian dead which can come back to life without any thought about the fashion of the age. The thought about a civilization of the dead would still interest me throughout the day, but no, not this time. This is cent percent about my mother, and she will remain the only one person to who has helped me more than I could to myself until now. So here is a #YoursHonestly letter to her.

Dear mother,
I haven’t been that good with obedience. I have the history of being more reluctant to being obedient than Dracula is to garlic and cross. Forgive me for the vampire usage that comes in between, as I am being part-time Vampire Bat. Leave that sentence out too, as this letter is not about vampires or obedience, but about honesty. It goes back to the time when you taught me more of the integrity. You have contributed a lot to my early English vocabulary (I still remember the moments of learning some of the words), but this is not about the words, but rather on the meaning of the words.

You did teach from that proverb which used to say that “Honesty is the best policy”. But that was only the beginning. There was one thing that you had told me at that time – It was to tell the truth; for the Eighth Commandment always had more significance to you than any other, along with the Fourth, for which you always had a special love. The “Honest Abe” example was also something which you always managed to come up with, along with the “studying under the street lights” story.

Image from Max Life Insurance i-genius #YoursHonestly activity at BlogAdda

Image from Max Life Insurance i-genius #YoursHonestly activity @ BlogAdda

I have worked with that a lot, and have tried to stick to the same for a very long time. Sometimes it worked, but on other times, it has miserably failed. But I have never stopped trying. There are things that I won’t tell a few people, and there are times when I have avoided people because I didn’t want to lie. But those moments were actually worth it. But in the end, it had to be about truth, and I have tried hard for the same, even though there are times when the perception of truth has been strange.

There were a number of occasions about which we never really had a talk. One of them was related to the motor vehicle licence test in which I quickly went on to become the car expert, the LMV licence holder, but got one problem while taking the two-wheeler test. My legs had touched the ground while going through the test, and I couldn’t stop myself from not telling the truth when the officer asked, even as others told me to lie. The result was that I didn’t get the licence on the first try – but that surely felt so good to do it the right wat the next time.

I have had my dark ages, and I haven’t always been that good, but the middle ages passed quite fast and I have returned to my age of honesty, the age of true heroes and the magic of wisdom. I have been given that wisdom by you, and if I hadn’t lived most of my life at home, I wouldn’t have gained that. It is rather a gift that I will use, no matter how it works out throughout my life. If it needs repair, I will come back to you, but I shall never return it because I intend to use it.

I am prepared to keep it towards eternity, to my own smaller division of existence if not for that of the world. I don’t hope to achieve anything related to the same, but I do wish to spread the idea. This is something that I will pass on to the next generation. Even if I am to die now, I hope that I will be remembered more as an honest person rather than as a big achiever who mints money like a rich Dwarven smith, and it is a philosophy which I have brought into my life from you.

The Choices of Life

Gillette Venus and BlogAdda want you to write about someone, a woman who made a journey from ‘OR’ to ‘AND’, the one who immediately comes to my mind is my mother. I would think that the same applies to many other people too, and I had always wanted to write something about her, and it is good to be given such an opportunity rather than keep thinking about it.

There are a few things that I have heard about her from her brothers and cousins. Among them, the most prominent one is about her double promotion in the school. It is something that I have not heard much about, but I know that only the best gets that. Another thing that I have known is that my grandparents wanted her to be a doctor as my grandfather himself was one. But yes, my mother always had better ideas.

That old wedding photo which serves as the "mandatory photo of the person" :D

That old wedding photo – half of it serves as the “mandatory photo of the person” 😀

Her first preference was always to get a job at a firm owned by the government, and for which she attended MA Sociology at Saint Teresa’s College, Cochin. Obviously, getting her married off was the need for her parents, especially as her sister was married off very early. But she made sure that she got a job right after her course making sure that it was not just an OR for her, but an AND – she was going to work and then get married.

It was not really the pattern to follow at that time among her relatives as there were not many working women among her close relatives, and neither would there be among my father’s family whom she was to marry after a few years. But she had chosen to be ahead of the age, and get that job at the Union Bank of India. That was her journey from OR to AND, not without difficulty, but with confidence.

On the day she retired, the rain never stopped for more than a few minutes :D

On the day she retired, even the rain never stopped for more than a few minutes 😀

She could follow her heart at that time period, and remains an inspiration for me when I struggle to follow mine. I am surprised at so many so called “achieving aunties” who think only about money twenty four hours a day, and I am glad to have a mother who acknowledges my right to study more, and also my privilege to stay single until I get settled in my way. There are always those relatives who are not ready to agree and pass on the judgments, and there is always one person who knows better; my mother. Now she has just retired after thirty seven years of service at the bank, after balancing her work and family life so well.

And then when it is the time to honour and celebrate the women in my life, there is just one who stands above the rest. Yes, there are not many other women who would let me share their stories and give me permission to put their photos on a blog too 😀 I had my difficulties in getting this photo too, but this was the better option as she didn’t want any of her newer photos to be used. Yes, this is also one of my favourite photos of my parents 😛
