Monthly Simona Facts

Here are a few Simona facts for the month. They are directly taken from the Pet Page in the Book of Life 😀

1. Simona the Kitty is a doubtful one. But she likes Milk Peda, Laddu, Jalebi and Mysore Pak. So you have to understand that if I ever ask you to bring any of the same, it is not for me, but for Simona the Kitty who likes to have her tea with a lot of sugar 😀

Jpeg

2. Simona the Kitty wishes to go for journeys. So if I ask you to pick me up from home, it is also because she likes it. She prefers to go on the electric scooter to save energy for a better life for the future generation and in favour of nature 😉

Jpeg

3. She looks as if to ask that question about the simple mortal nature of humanity when she has nine lives. She has already used two of them and still got seven remaining. She wonders why humans adjust with just one life, and she hopes to donate one for them 😛

Jpeg

4. Life is still complicated. She wants to go this way and also that way. She has to choose her favourite human and decide to go this way or that way in order to come down. It is a difficult decision because all paths lead down 😀

Jpeg

5. The vampire fangs are here. She has her own vampire qualities which she hopes to display as she applies for the World Vampire Cat competition. As black cats are preferred for the program, she has to train hard for it, and this is part of the training programme.

Jpeg

6. This has been the natural thing that has been done at our home while mother used to switch on the lights – she is skilled enough to use it to her advantage. She sleeps more than any known cat, and so she needed to know that and use it well.

Tribute to Haiku Queen

I have known only a few people during my early days of WordPress blogging, and even on the day of the third anniversary of Travel Diaries and the first of Movies of the Soul, I had only two as friends. For most of my blogging time, I have had only two people on my friends list in the social networking sites, and the second blogger to be my friends list was Maniparna. I have been reading her posts since early 2014, during those days when she had another theme and a pet blog dog called Gulgul 😀

I have been thinking about getting a pet for a long time, and then I noticed the blog pet – it caught my attention first; then everything else; not many people got a blog pet, and I have seen nobody else with one. That was my strange reason at that time, but there has been a long list of book reviews and haiku which I continued to read as her Scattered Thoughts went on to become one of the very first blogs which I read consistently.

Along with those writing skills, there is also something about her photography that you need to look out for. Even though I have never really tried to write haiku or book reviews with the inspiration from her blog, I have always been inspired by her fiction, and more than that, her supportive comments on my two blogs, Movies of the Soul and The Tea Cerebration(s) . She has more than one hundred and fifty comments on my blog, more than anybody else.

banners

She has commented more than one hundred times on this blog alone, more than double of those who comes second and third, and she has done that so consistently – now that is inspiration to come up with more and more posts. She was also helpful in helping my early doubts with the blogging sites. I have been a very doubtful person in the earlier blogging days, especially when related to BlogAdda and IndiBlogger.

She was also the first one to follow me on Twitter and also the one before everybody else to favourite on of my tweets. Yes, Twitter came very late for me, and my social networking idea was limited to Facebook and Orkut earlier – so needed some help with making an entrance into the world of tweeting. We have also been the runners-up of the Godrej Aer Pan India Blogging Contest, and that was the first contest which I had ever had won any prize for.

She has a long list of contest wins and runner-up trophies as you can see on her blog. For people like me who have a slow internet, her blog is also one of the fastest to load. Her work has inspired me for the last one year and a few months; she deserves to be nominated at WIN 15 and I don’t really need to hope that she nominates her blog in any of those categories there because I know that she already did that and also got her badge 😀 Here is one my favourite Haiku works at her place.

Uncle Dracula has said a quote about immortality which I shall not bring to anybody’s attention. Still, a few things are forever, and even though I shall attribute immortality more to the Team Vampire, there is nothing like a Haiku on a beautiful monsoon day with rain drops creating poetry. Long Live the Haiku Queen! Here is a tribute to the inspirational blogger, and Queen of Haiku! #YouMakeMeWIN

I’m blogging for #YouMakeMeWIN to honour a blogger who has influenced me and deserves to be nominated at WIN15.

*The Vampire Bat and the Vampire Owl sends their regards 😀

All About Simona

After the Simona the Kitty kidnap and return, a lot of people have asked me about her and how is she doing. A lot of people haven’t asked about me, but did ask about her. Well, she is the celebrity and I am more like the manager. So, I guess that this is the time to post her photos after the whole episode and the return. She is very much okay and going through the good times again. Here I share seven of her photos after the incident. Things are rather normal for her these days, and she has returned to brutally murder more of the spiders, cockroaches and lizards at home. I have often wondered if those creatures had a role in Simona going missing 😛

Falling asleep remains a major program for her.

Falling asleep remains a major program for her, and she is an expert in the field.

And also falling asleep in different ways.

And also falling asleep in different ways; there is so much variety right there.

Taking over the chair meant for the oldest member of the house.

Taking over the chair meant for the oldest member of the house is just too easy.

And then sleeping in the sunlight as in moonlight.

And then sleeping in the sunlight as well as in the moonlight with no worries.

Still, there is no loss of style in being Simona.

Still, there is no loss of style in being Simona, and she rests after having her Whiskas.

She prefers to ride Honda Dio from there - surely the smart one!

She prefers to ride Honda Dio from there – surely the smartest kitten of the area!

Then she becomes the gangster, turns back and chases cockroaches.

Then she becomes the gangster, turns back and chases cockroaches and spiders.

***The photos used in this blog post were taken on my Asus Zenfone 5. Yes, Simona is getting older and is becoming an integral part of the family as well as the neighbourhood. One has to wonder what would happen if she ever goes missing again. Making the wish that she remains with us forever, we are going to buy more Whiskas, or we might need to have more non-vegetarian food so that we can share with her! She has been proving to get more and more hungry, and lets hope that she remains healthy. This is also her house now, and she would want to stay inside her world with her people. If you like the photos and Simona, clap your hands 😀

Appreciation: Version Two

Ever since beginning its journey on 5th February 2013, Movies of the Soul was not a blog which I was expecting to be popular. It reached one lakh views just after its two year anniversary, but that was also not something which I expected so early to happen. Beginning with the movie Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, it was not initially meant to post Malayalam reviews, as the idea was more Hollywood, which explains the 132 English movies which I have reviewed there.

This explains why I haven’t reached fifty reviews in Malayalam yet on Movies of the Soul, as the number of Malayalam movies which I watched at the theatre only decreased, and it came down in the last year while the number of Hollywood movies remained the same. It was not just about the quality of the movies which was the best for Malayalam in 2013; for it was also about the appreciation which was rather less for Malayalam movies which were like people only wanted to criticize whatever opinion you came up with.

ividee (3)

The only significant change was related to the movie Angels, when my blog was mentioned in a video created by the Official Facebook Page of the movie, which was shared by the director Jean Markose and also the one skilled actor who played the central character of the movie, even though not the movie – Joy Mathew. It was important for me as I am not someone used to appreciation. Most of the people I know are only consider people who make a lot of money as “humans”.

It has been a major feature of “The Theory of Relative-IT”, which Albert Einstein might have also thought about. I have been writing so much for no reason, and it was becoming a mechanized process of writing opinions when this appreciation came. It has been like that for quite long, with and even though I had tried hard to write even better, and wrote so many times about the movie Mili, there was almost no appreciation for my ideas. Then I thought that Angels would be the last review from me which would get noticed, but I was wrong.

ividee (2)

It was some time since I watched a Malayalam movie; the last one being Fireman. So I finally watched the movie Ivide, and wrote on all those ideas which came to my mind after watching the movie. It was only later that I noticed that Priya Chokshi, the assistant director of the movie had chosen to retweet my tweet with the link to the movie review. She did share other opinions, but I was happy to see someone in the movie field actually choosing to share my review having the link to this review post.

I have been writing Hollywood reviews at Kiagia.com, and so haven’t been caring about the Malayalam movies much. Malayalam movie industry has been going on too much with its fans rather than the regular viewers. But I am glad that I watched this one in the end. The word “ivide” means here, and I am glad that I am here. The Official Facebook Page of Ivide also shared my review on their blog with what I wrote in depth. It is the first time that an Official Facebook Page of a movie is sharing my review too.

ividee (1)

It surely feels good when I write about a multi-starrer movie with two of the biggest young stars in the movie, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nivin Pauly, and that big name in the actress list, Bhavana, plus that amazingly skilled director Shyamaprasad – and then it get shared. It might not be that big for others, but for someone who is always blamed by the relatives in the name of not getting a job and not being married yet, it is the big boon from the heavenly abode.

Exploring the Elements

This writing is part of the Explore The Elements Photo Contest which was announced by Thomas Cook. Here I explore and represent the four elements of nature with the help of the photos which I have taken using my Sony Cybershot DSC W-310. You can check here for more details about the contest: http://www.thomascook.com/blog/holiday-competitions-deals/explore-the-elements/ #ExploreTheElements

1. Earth: As it is said and known, “for dust thou art, and to dust shalt thou return” is what the following scene reminds us about claiming our place back under the Earth and hope for a better time at the other world. There is stubbornness in this idea of truth, and the certainty of this return to the dust and dirt is as clear as the presence of these things on the surface of the Earth. The problem with humanity is its consistent loss of memory about this, and their pursuit of Carpe Diem. The photo was taken at a church cemetery around the city of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England.

It is to the insides of Earth that we have to return, for we are dust.

It is right into the insides of Earth that we have to return, for we are dust.

2. Water: You can see how well water could adapt and as much as it can become the life saver, it can be the destroyer. The unbelievable amount of suppleness can be attributed to this element which is a powerful force of nature which can make impact in its presence as well as the absence. The photo shows the brutal strength that the element of water came up with, during the monsoon rain of 2013 (there were worse situations during that period at the banks of the river Periyar) at the town of Aluva, near Cochin, Kerala, India.

Water has its power to take over whenever it wishes to.

Water as an element has its power to take over whenever it wishes to.

3. Fire: The element of fire always burns, either in the minds of the people or on the far away horizons, as the globe of fire reflects our motivation and desire, becoming the silent watcher of the human hatred for the other people of their kind. The energy of fire is something that we can take into our lives, without the negative sides, choosing not to burn the people around us with hatred based on religion, caste or race. There is the need for fire in our lives. The photo was taken at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India.

The beauty of fire on the sky can't be ignored by any camera.

The beauty of fire on the sky can’t be ignored by the eyes or any camera.

4. Air: There is freedom associated with air, something which is not easy in this world. We, human beings are bound by strange things and weird laws being passed, some of them making just the religion more important than humanity, and a few other making a few animals more significant that human beings. We should have chosen to air in this life, so free and with all the wisdom that is gained by traveling over long distances. In the photo, you can see how the vegetation bows down in reverence to the strength and wisdom of the element of air – photo taken at Ilaveezhapoonjira, Kerala, India.

When the element of air travel around freely with wisdom, take a bow.

When the element of air travel around freely with wisdom, take a bow.

There is only the human nature which is as unpredictable as the elements of nature, with compassion on one side and the tendency to be devastating with a certain amount of inherent evil which comes up here and there. There is something about the use of the word “nature” at both places. I hope you found the four photos of the elements of nature interesting – they have all been cropped and adjusted to a standard size so that there wouldn’t be any confusion. They were all taken by me only on my camera, Sony Cybershot DSC-W310..

Here, I nominate five other bloggers to participate in this contest:

Tribute to the Teachers

My time at the Union Christian College was very good, and each of the lecturers at the English Department has played a big role in defining me – it is something that I can never forget. I have already written about my days at the college (https://theteacerebration.wordpress.com/2014/12/01/the-college-days-at-ucc/) which won a contest too, and I might come with a detailed tribute later. But for now, I would like to remember those teachers who defined my earlier days of studies at the school level. My memories about that time period remains less clear, but it is worth a try.

Among my favourite teachers, there are two who helped me with my English. One is Aleyamma teacher who was my all-time favourite teacher – I would give her credit for myself scoring very high in English for my tenth board exams. She was strict with her class, and always hesitated to give marks, and the best one could score for the English paper if it was evaluated by her – it was around eighty two out of hundred and sometimes nobody scored an eighty; not really inspiring the students to choose English as the favourite subject, but her level of teaching and valuation compared to the others was clear when the scores reached near cent percent for the board exams while the students who scored high in the local test papers and examinations got low marks.

Just reminding myself that I used to win prizes, even at state level :D

Just reminding myself that I used to win some big prizes, even at state level 😀

I have had the opportunity to stand outside the class during her classes, but that only inspired me to work harder – from the way she managed the classes, it was all so clear to me. I tried to read more and make things work better, and I wished she had taught me English for a longer period of time. No longer being in her classes was the biggest miss for me after the tenth standard. Joseph sir who gave me tutions for English also provided the same, and he played a big role in making the English language and grammar interesting. As long as he taught me, I never had any doubt about which subject to study more than the others. But all subjects other than English were made so boring in comparison.

Another love for a subject goes to History, and the credit for that goes to Laila teacher who could come up with least boring History class that I have ever known. She had a special style of saying “Mao Tse-tung” and “Chiang Kai-shek” which made sure that the Chinese Revolution was never forgotten. I remember that I had once topped History for the first time and she was like “what took you so long?”. I could score high for the subject during the board exams too, and I was actually blessed with the certain fact that she was the one who taught me History throughout high school, a memory that I cherish. I don’t even remember seeing her in anger when teaching or dealing with matters of the class.

Then there was Uma teacher, who made the subject of Geography have any value. She also used to teach some English when there was the need, and I did feel that she made her points so clear with the class. If I have something of the subject remaining inside my brain, it is because she make me relate well with that subject which was never among my stronger areas. It is the base for Geography that she had provided, just like that base for History and English which were established. I managed to do fine with the subject for the tenth board exams, and make Social Science look nice in totality.

A portion of the scanned image - favourite teachers are third from left and first from right.

A portion of the scanned image – favourite teachers are third from left and first from right.

Then there was Martin sir who made an impression for my Plus Two, but the major problem there was that, as a Mathematics teacher, he came too late to make a big impact – there was no love left for me with Maths, and even for the Science subject, the lack of good teachers during the earlier periods of schooling deprived me of any love for those subjects. My favourite subjects were formed due to the presence of some good teachers during the school days, and they were English, History and Geography – those were the three subjects which made me interested due to having the best teachers, the four whom I salute, and my respect for the fifth who tried so hard to make my Maths better, but couldn’t 😀

This blog post is inspired by Sucheta’s writing (https://suchetabiswas.wordpress.com/2015/02/23/we-the-people-and-the-teachers-we-have), and reminds me that I should have carried over the inspiration and knowledge which were provided by these teachers. But unfortunately, I did lose most of it for some time, and could only partially gain a part of it back. It was rather a near-impossible task because of my certain inabilities. ***The images used in this blog post are scanned and cropped photos from my distant past – the schooldays.

The Simona Programme

February 28th is the celebration of the three month anniversary of finding Simona the Kitty. It would be another day of awesome tea party. I feel that the cats should celebrate birthdays every month as they are with us for such shorter time. Reaching home on the day of the release of the Malayalam movie Angels, Simona the Valiant Cat plays many roles here at her home, and lets see what her major programs are, on these days.

1. The Leg Hugger: Simona is a consistent leg hugger. It is almost impossible to avoid getting hugged by her. She will hide under the bed, table or even at a place with the lowest possibilities to hug your leg with a quick pounce and surprise. Yes, it is not permanent. She takes breaks between each hugs, and sometimes the procedure is very long, as she stays on the leg trying to give a leg shake. May be she actually wants to hug a tree, but there is none indoors.

So you know I hug legs. I am so cute, so give me your leg :P

So you know I hug legs. I am so cute, so give me your leg or I shall take it 😛

2. The Ball Finder: You can’t hide the ping-pong ball from her; you can only keep trying. She will find it and she will start kicking it, unless you keep it very high or lock it. She is becoming more and more fond of the orange colour and her football skills with the ping-pong ball might give her a chance in a possible future Kitty ISL. May be when you name her after an awesome tennis player, you have to expect something like that 😀

I can find anything. No matter what you do, I shall find all treasures :D

I can find anything. No matter what you do to hide, I shall find all the treasures 😀

3. The Spider Slayer: She punches the spiders whenever she finds them. It is a left right left punch which she has mastered. I am hoping for that to be added to the next video game of Mortal Kombat. Last time, she tried that with a cockroach, I had to throw the Cambridge Advanced Learner’s Dictionary on it to finally finish it off, but she is making a good attempt despite having a basic non-violent nature 😛

The hunter is ready. Bring me all spiders and cockroaches.

The hunter is ready here. Do show me all spiders, lizards and cockroaches.

4. The Wire Puller: She just can’t stand those snake-like creatures called wires. She finds her mortal enemy there and bring all of them down. So, let your mobile charger cable come down even a little. There is a mighty hunter down there looking for some snake dance. No matter where she finds it or of what kind, she can hunt it down. It is a special skill that she has acquired.

This is my personal mobile charger. Find another one, human.

This is my personal mobile charger. Find another one for yourself, human.

5. The Lap Jumper: You are watching the Malayalam version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire or Kaun Banega Crorepathi and then she jumps on your lap and watches the television. She would sit there as Queen Simona. I don’t think that Suresh Gopi or Amitabh Bachchan would mind that though. She would wait there until enough massage is received or watching the television won’t be very easy 😀

At the same time, the lady whose name our kitty has borrowed, Simona Halep also becomes the first woman player to win two big tennis tournaments this year with the recently concluded Dubai Open. She regains the world no.3 and looks good to go further. As the last year’s finalist in this clay’s own slam, I hope that she improves on that and wins the French Open this time.

The Introvert Opinion

Malayalam movie industry had two inspirational movies in the earlier part both the years 2014 and 2015. But the fact remains that Mili hasn’t got the attention that the movie How Old Are You had, and the reason is mostly the presence of Manju Warrier in that movie, as one of the best and the most popular actresses in the industry had returned to the big screen after such a long time. Some people who had an easy path in life won’t be able to digest the problems of Mili either with their lack of empathy and having no consideration for others. But there are a number of reasons why Mili rises and stands much above How Old Are You.

Mili is more realistic: Among the two movies, Mili is the more realistic one, as our heroine remains the same, and she only does what any person can do. But How Old Are You brings too much into the scene, including the Indian President, a huge vegetable garden and the quick change of the protagonist for almost no real reason. There is even a lady who abuses a security personnel for just doing his job – wonder what is the goodness there. Mili is full of goodness, and has had better and more realistic turning points. Mili thrives on its simplicity, and thanks to the same, almost everyone can relate with her.

milii (1)

Mili has a better protagonist: Another advantage of Mili is the presence of a protagonist with which almost everyone can relate. She is someone who had problems since her childhood while How Old Are You has a heroine who was always super and has lived her married life pretending to be what she is not. She had ability and she was a pretender for which she deserves no applause. She had a good government job and still she had chosen to be not her. Mili Nair is not the same, as she could never find herself, and she had actually struggled a lot – had no job, hope or love.

Mili is straight to the point: As How Old Are You deviates from making its point on too many occasions, Mili is always there and never goes behind in making its point. Mili is a voice for the introverts, children as well as for the women. It can also be used for motivation by most of the subaltern, unlike How Old Are You which is limited in its scope and yet tries too many things just because it has a veteran actress playing the major role. Mili is life, and Mili belongs to the heart and soul.

milii (2)

Mili has to succeed for the introverts and those children who were forced to compete and were considered good for nothing just because they couldn’t live up-to the expectations. It is a voice for hope for the future. It will help to raise a better generation of children who are taught to be good instead of being achievers in one way or the other. This better development of a future generation and the youth is the gift of this movie towards the society. It will help the greedy people to realize that money isn’t everything, and it is more about goodness than anything else.

I have been blessed with many relatives who boast about their sons and daughters just because they are studying in a reputed university or are earning so much with their jobs. The sad thing about the same is that they try to degrade the others along with doing the same. They think that everyone else is useless. It is okay to say good things about people, but why would they want to degrade others? Ask Mili Nair, and ask every other kid who has been forced to be someone else and couldn’t. Mili is one of those children who had to suffer due to the third rate demands of the society. Mili is future, and Mili is hope.

mili (3)

About the relatives, it took me about twenty years to get the evil out of my life and somehow manage to get their violent ways away, deciding on my life. They still bother me at times with their boasting, but I know their true colours now. Mili Nair was actually faster – and she did that so well. May be children who watch Mili can plan their lives better and the new age parents can be better guardians as well as friends to their children. Isn’t that a much needed thing in the current world where relationships begin to make no sense?

As William Wordsworth had mentioned in his poem My Heart Leaps Up or The Rainbow, “The Child is father of the Man”, and it is reiterated in this movie – lets understand our children better and not blame them for their lack of skills, which is why Mili is so significant. ***All the images used in this blog post are from the official Facebook page of Mili the movie (https://www.facebook.com/milimovieofficial). More than One Label

As Gillette Venus and BlogAdda takes the one-dimensional labels out of women, and brings to light, those multitude of things that make them who they are, I would like to contribute with something about my cousin sister about whom I have always had pride, and who has always deserved more applause and love than anyone else. I have known her since my birth, and I am proud about the choices that she has made in her life.

She has been the good daughter in her family, helping her mother in all ways possible along with studying at the college. Her being a good sister was evident with her elder brother as well as with us cousin-brothers and sisters as she became a great role model to all of us, and her presence as the guiding light was there even when I was going through dark times. Still, there was no random advice, but help.

A very old photo of my cousin-sister and sister :D

A very old photo of my cousin-sister and sister 😀 Don’t tell my sis that I didn’t write on her 😛

She has been firm in her decisions, and powerful in her ideas, and the quality of compassion was something that she seemed to have had for a very long along with her time spent in prayers. Being a compassionate human being was never something of lower preference for her. She knew that her prayers had answers, and never hesitated or doubted, unlike a number of her cousins which included us.

So, when we went to Kolkata in 2011, meeting her again was a major reason for that journey, while not denying the everlasting love for the City of Joy. She had joined the congregation of Missionaries of Charity hoping to do something for the poor and the downtrodden. We went to a number of children’s homes, old-age homes and places like Home for the Dying and Mother House. Visiting Kolkata had a lot to do with visiting her, who had spare time now after years of joining the service.

A photo taken in 2011 - tomb of Mother Teresa at Mother House, Kolkata

A photo taken during the journey in 2011 – tomb of Mother Teresa at Mother House, Kolkata

When I was a child, I used to wonder why she had joined that Roman Catholic group of religious sisters which needed more sacrifice and a lot more of the vow for poverty than any other group of nuns. Even her relatives had wondered if she could have joined a local congregation of nuns and did well in that community. But now, I know that it was because she was ready for it and this was another role that she wanted to do not for herself or to the taste of the people who knew her, but for the society.

Compassion had been coming naturally to her, and helping people was something that she longed for. Almost each and every place which had children needing help, she was there, and anger was something that never found her. In my whole life, I have never found her angry. Not ready to make a choice, she chose to be educated, and also decided go the way she wanted to, and that was related to social service, no matter what the relatives had said. Salute to her for that decision.

The Choices of Life

Gillette Venus and BlogAdda want you to write about someone, a woman who made a journey from ‘OR’ to ‘AND’, the one who immediately comes to my mind is my mother. I would think that the same applies to many other people too, and I had always wanted to write something about her, and it is good to be given such an opportunity rather than keep thinking about it.

There are a few things that I have heard about her from her brothers and cousins. Among them, the most prominent one is about her double promotion in the school. It is something that I have not heard much about, but I know that only the best gets that. Another thing that I have known is that my grandparents wanted her to be a doctor as my grandfather himself was one. But yes, my mother always had better ideas.

That old wedding photo which serves as the "mandatory photo of the person" :D

That old wedding photo – half of it serves as the “mandatory photo of the person” 😀

Her first preference was always to get a job at a firm owned by the government, and for which she attended MA Sociology at Saint Teresa’s College, Cochin. Obviously, getting her married off was the need for her parents, especially as her sister was married off very early. But she made sure that she got a job right after her course making sure that it was not just an OR for her, but an AND – she was going to work and then get married.

It was not really the pattern to follow at that time among her relatives as there were not many working women among her close relatives, and neither would there be among my father’s family whom she was to marry after a few years. But she had chosen to be ahead of the age, and get that job at the Union Bank of India. That was her journey from OR to AND, not without difficulty, but with confidence.

On the day she retired, the rain never stopped for more than a few minutes :D

On the day she retired, even the rain never stopped for more than a few minutes 😀

She could follow her heart at that time period, and remains an inspiration for me when I struggle to follow mine. I am surprised at so many so called “achieving aunties” who think only about money twenty four hours a day, and I am glad to have a mother who acknowledges my right to study more, and also my privilege to stay single until I get settled in my way. There are always those relatives who are not ready to agree and pass on the judgments, and there is always one person who knows better; my mother. Now she has just retired after thirty seven years of service at the bank, after balancing her work and family life so well.

And then when it is the time to honour and celebrate the women in my life, there is just one who stands above the rest. Yes, there are not many other women who would let me share their stories and give me permission to put their photos on a blog too 😀 I had my difficulties in getting this photo too, but this was the better option as she didn’t want any of her newer photos to be used. Yes, this is also one of my favourite photos of my parents 😛

Season of the Kitty

So, Simona the Lionhearted makes it to the next year. This is the first time that a kitten has stayed with us for a New Year, and also for more than a month. SI-MO is a great achiever in that case, and done well enough to adapt to her new home. She is now aware of each corner of the house and reacts to the voices that she hears. Not ready to be alone, she is quick to run to any place which has humans; she keeps waiting for human voice and she is good at detecting mine.

But there has been the mighty presence of the forces of evil. There have been two kinds of the same. The first is the kind that doesn’t like the so called “creatures” at home, and in their opinion, cats and dogs are the ones which bite and should be abandoned. They feel that these creatures as injurious to humans. They are not good for human health and throwing them into the canal is rather appropriate – this kitten should have stayed in the canal according to them.

I think a venomous snake has caught my legs. Mayday! Mayday! :D

I think a venomous snake has caught my legs. Mayday! Mayday! 😀

The second type is those who say that only dogs should be allowed at home, and it is a strange logic indeed, when this kitten has required so less attention so far. A derivation from the same, thinks that only cows and goats should be raised for milk and chicken for eggs. According to them, there has to a benefit for having pets – I would say that there is something from Simona, and it is happiness. She has been good to me throughout her life, unlike most of the humans.

I am the Elastic Kitty. See how far I can stretch. And see, only two legs :D

I am the Elastic Kitty. See how far I can stretch. And see, only two legs 😀

Yes, Simona has new needs now. Even as she found no interest in kuzhalappam, she was instantly attracted to murukku, a special version of the same called thengapaal murukku which we have been recently interested in, and Simona also cares to join us. All the bakers in the world should have her attention now. Her interest for food has been increasing at the same speed as her need for more playing time, as her active nature has reached another level.

I love my Mickey Mouse. And I had this pose in my mind for a long time :D

I love my Mickey Mouse. And I had this pose in my mind for a long time 😀

She also has a Mickey Mouse bell around her neck now, something which is there to make sure that she is not a random wanderer kitten, but does have a family to look after her. The problem of wandering does have the other side of terror, with those bigger male feral cats wandering around the house, especially one big creature coloured grey and white. There are also too many stray dogs around, some of them even known to have bitten humans in the past during night and early morning.

I am like a tiger looking for the prey; the predator hiding in the darkness :D

I am like a tiger looking for the prey; the predator hiding in the darkness 😀

One has to worry about her safety and keep her at home, especially when thinking about the disappearance of the former cat, Zeezee. For now, Simona will thrive inside the house by herself and under the watch around the building. But the question remains what will happen if she chooses to go out by herself. I would guess that it is only a matter of time until she makes that choice without us looking. When she chooses to leave one day, I hope that she comes back.

Until then, lets be impressed by how well she plays football with the ping-pong ball and how nice is her dribbling skills. She takes it and goes between the legs passing through the open door to score that goal. Yes, may be she can play in ISL next year. After all, she is capable of a lot more things, even as she is named after one tennis player. I wonder what new special skills she can come up with 😀 *All photos seen this blog post were taken on my Sony Cybershot DSC-W310.

First of the Awards

I am glad to announce a first time for this blog: Jay Shah (http://thoughtburps.wordpress.com/) has nominated my blog for  Very Inspiring Blogger Award! Yes, there have been a long list of awards for my other blog Movies of the Soul (http://moviesofthesoul.wordpress.com/blog-awards/) and also a few for my Travel Diaries, but this is the first one for this blog.

Well, this is an award about inspiration, and I am glad that even if I rarely get inspired myself, I still ended up being an inspiring blogger 😀 That should make this award more significant than most of the other awards though 😉 Here is the post concerning the same: (http://thoughtburps.wordpress.com/2014/12/22/so-glad-to-receive-very-inspiring-blogger-award/)

There is also a first in everything, which is why I chose to publish this one as a post rather than as the page like I used to do with the awards for my other blogs. Thank you Jay, for the nomination; you have a very inspiring blog right there 🙂

Here, I have to mention seven things about myself:

  • I have always believed more in death than in life, and I hope for a better world after death.
  • I am now at a new level of tea addiction which you might not want to know about 😉
  • I don’t usually trust people. It has never been my kind of thing; may be I can get a superpower for that.
  • I hate crowds. I would prefer to be left alone or with just a few people, because it feels better.
  • I don’t believe much in winning. I rarely give much value to it. Doing your part well is the better thing.
  • I have become a cricket hater from cricket lover, and the credit for the same goes directly to BCCI as it is now, and I thank them for saving lot of my time.
  • I am a jobless person with not much hope for getting to work in this birth or the next – not even in inferno or purgatario.

Here are the fifteen blogs I’d like to nominate:

  1. Maniparna (http://maniparna5002.wordpress.com)
  2. Namrata (http://namratakumari.blogspot.in)

Finding Possible True Love

William Shakespeare, in his Sonnet Number 116, talks about rosy lips and cheeks. He tells his readers how insignificant the beauty of body is, in the case of true love. This actually takes the case of pre-marital sex away from the equation, and as a post-graduate in English Literature and an admirer of the literature of all times, I have always wondered about those lines from the Bard Of Avon. True love is not completely about beauty and sex, and pre-marital sex is something that defies the same. The media nowadays might think different, but lets not fall for that.

So, a question comes here. Is pre-marital sex in any way related to true love? I would say no. There is absolutely no need for such stuff in true love, because it is beyond all that. It is the superpower of true love. It extends and stays far above one of the most powerful thing among the Seven Deadly Sins – fornication; that is accomplished by true love with ease due to its power. It might be more difficult these days, but there are not many things that true love is not capable of. Ask any religion about this – all of them have been found for the good of humans, even as some people who are actually non-believers, take things out of the context.

Listen to what the great man says - is it too difficult to follow?

Listen to what the great man says, or at least try – is it too difficult to follow here?

True love’s existence itself is something that creates a leviathan of doubts. But saying no to pre-marital sex is a certainty. There is nothing to be doubtful about it because we have grown up in such a world, rich in its traditions and extravagant in its beliefs. We have been taught to say no to many things, and it has helped the righteousness grown strong in our world, which separates us from many other nations of the world. Do we need to descend into chaos? I wouldn’t want that, because we are civilization which has known righteousness and mutual respect since a very long time ago.

Take the case of the poem When You Are Old by William Butler Yeats. Our poet addresses it to his only love that was never fulfilled and tells her that he loves her not thinking about her physical features – he says “one man loved the pilgrim soul in you”. His love is not of random sexual desires which lead to pre-marital sex. It certainly has platonic elements, and the significance of the same is that his thoughts were free but still pure, and not thinking of pre-marital sex. Is it too difficult to listen to the most creative minds, and one of the best Ireland has ever had?

Poems about love - always helps one to believe in it, right?

Poems about love – always helps one to believe in it, right? Just wait till marriage.

The difference between true love and fake love is sex. It stands there between the two separating them, with the fake one taking on the pre-marital sex and the other one tells love to wait for marriage. There is a tug of war going on between the two and the question remains about why one can’t wait? True love waits, and impatience is many things, but not true love. What the lovers need to think about is if it is love or lust that takes over the romance. Is it the infatuation or is it eternal love that you have here – a doubt that is answered only by the existence of absence of pre-marital sex.

Those who support pre-marital sex clearly challenges the idea of true love and are responsible for its near extinction. They are also challenging the Indian culture for the Western tradition which used to be the same at some point of time, but has lost its purity due to giving too much freedom to its people. The freedom that we need is not the freedom of pre-marital sex and similar things, but the freedom to be good and fair. But the West has gone beyond that. Do we need to imitate them? The answer once again is no, except for a few good things.

There are poems, there is romance and there is true love.

There are poems, there is romance and there is true love – but no to pre-,marital sex.

Between all these, take some time to read Poonaam Uppal’s True Love – A Mystical True Love Story. This blog post is also part of the contest related to this work True Love – A Mystical True Love Story by Poonaam Uppal, in association with Indiblogger. Yes, true love needs to win, and it doesn’t need pre-marital sex. It needs trust in one another, and the faith that goes beyond all realms, for eternity. I am hoping to read Poonaam Uppal’s book and take that fictional journey from Las Vegas to the Great Himalayas. *In this post, I share the commonly used image of William Shakespeare from his wikipedia page along with two photos of beautiful poetic verses which I captured from the Botanical Garden of Ooty (all are cropped).
