For the Restaurants

I have had a long history with the restaurants of my favourite towns, and I had already written about those five towns already. The restaurants at Aluva, Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha, Kothamangalam and Angamaly have been part of my life for quite a long time because they are part of the routes which I have traveled a lot. Yes, a good number of restaurants around the city of Cochin also got a big part to play in the same. Throughout my life, I have loved many restaurants and decided not to visit a few ever.

I have rarely hated any of the restaurants because I have always found one interesting item in one form or the other. Most of my favourite restaurants were vegetarian, with only a few exceptions in each town. I have already written about how much of an integral part of my life, Indian Coffee House has been. But talking about the restaurants, or at least most of them, there are a few things which I would like to see at all of them. I am sharing them here.

Try providing only the needed amount of curry: When there is only one person having food, I am surprised that there is so much of the curry being provided whether it is vegetarian or non-vegetarian. When I go outside with friends, if we are only two, we share one curry with the rice, Chappathi, Porotta, Appam or whatever we are having. This is the reason why I have some Dosa, Idli or Biriyani items which don’t require separate curry when I am alone. I am sure that I won’t be able to finish one full curry, but the restaurants can have the option of providing half-curry or sometimes even quarter-curry?

There Dal Fry which you see is usually enough for me and my friend :)

The Dal Fry which you see here with the roti is usually enough for me and my friend 🙂

Try not to make random assumptions: I have seen that many non-vegetarian restaurants bring Chicken Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice or Chicken Biriyani whenever we ask for Noodles, Fried Rice or Biriyani. This has happened to me on a number of occasions. There was a time when I had to chase the waiter to tell him that I actually meant Vegetable Biriyani only. This is really not fair. You can’t make me eat non-vegetarian just because the restaurant is non-vegetarian. I might have chosen this restaurant because of its location or due to the fact that someone who is with me wants to have non-vegetarian, and it needn’t be even chicken – it can be fish, mutton or anything else.

Make tea available at all times: Having anything cold might not be the right thing to do at all times, and so I would like to say, let there be tea! Yes, it has to be there all the time, from the moment the restaurant opens to the time when it closes. It has been a nice feature of restaurant chains like Indian Coffee House, but a lot of restaurants have failed to keep that property even as some combinations of bakeries and restaurants do manage the same. As the common man’s drink, tea should be available at all times, and at the cheapest possible price; it is rather a necessity.

Dosa means enough free sambhar, and tea at any time makes it better.

Dosa means enough free sambar, and tea at any time makes the situation a lot better.

Don’t hesitate to bring us the menu: Yes, please do bring that because even if you talk about what all are available in slower pace than that usual high-speed talk, we might not be able to follow that exactly as it is supposed to be. We might end up hearing something else, or may be you will just forget one name, and we won’t get that thing which we really want to have. It is really a loss on both sides, and lets keep things clear with the menu. Knowing the prices of all those things will also help. May be there can be a huge menu board on the wall like we usually see at the branches of Indian Coffee House – they are very useful.

Do have the restrooms for customers: Yes, this is very significant because when we are on the long drives, the presence of the same will only help to make sure that the customers make the visit. I have rarely been interested in visiting a restaurant without them, and hasn’t added them to my list of favourite restaurants. It is better to have them outside the restaurant too, or at least on the other side, quite far away from the kitchen. Some restaurants are really careful about the same, like the Carnival Food Court near Angamaly which maintains the cleanliness really well.

Airtel 4G Adventure IV

The adventures with #Airtel4G have been quite interesting so far. I have wrote about it already with two posts, one about the first day and also with day two and three. The fourth day was more like a continuation of the same incidents, but a few more locations were tested. Wherever the test was made, there was no compromise on speed as long as the 4G came up on the top bar. I have already mentioned a number of places in my recent posts, and I am going to add more, with further details here.

On the fourth day of #Airtel4G, I decided to check from where the 4G started at Aluva at least from one side. From the Perumbavoor side, it started from Thottumugham, a few seconds after passing the Mahilalayam stop. Yes, it doesn’t start from Kuttamassery as I had expected. The signal gets stronger and stronger until it reaches the centre of the town. There is maximum strength around the railway station, and it will work very good around the Zeenath theatre. It still needs to be tested inside the theatre.

Jpeg

Then when we traveled to Edappally from Aluva, it remained 4G all the way through, even though it was the Container Terminal Road which we had chosen. I made sure about the main road during the return journey. 4G was clearly strong through the bigger roads, even though there should still be those pockets were there is trouble reaching, especially when inside the buildings. But a usual traveler should have no problems. Imagine someone traveling on the Kochi Metro which starts from Aluva with Airtel 4G – that should be great!

Then the test was done at the most significant centre of Kochi – the Lulu Mall. The signal was very good around there for 4G even though it lowered at some areas of the mall. There was no 4G at all inside the PVR multiplex while we tried to watch Kunjiramayanam on this day as it was often claimed to be the best Malayalam movie released for Onam. Jamna Pyari and Phantom were already finished. It was once again back to 2G inside the mall which make me wonder if I have to recharge with 3G only at times, but the availability should increase, and so may be I will keep that as a later option.

The phone with 4G is surely working better than the Mobile Wi-Fi device and it is a clear thing. I have found the Samsung Galaxy A5 doing better with the connection speed, not only with the direct data transfer, but also as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Yes, the costlier ones have the advantage, don’t they? But the Mobile Wi-Fi device will also do fine. It is the cheaper option, and the right option if you have just bought a new mobile phone a few days, weeks or months ago. You really can’t really let the 4G experience go, right? Especially if you are someone addicted to speed.

Talking about this Mobile Wi-Fi device, it is a nice cheaper option to have high speed internet. This device from Airtel can stand for six hours without being connected to a power source, and we can connect up-to ten users. It can be considered during a journey in a car when we can transform the vehicle into a nice Wi-Fi zone with this portability. All those older and lower cost mobile phone users can be relieved about this one. As I got the broadband modem which works only on power, this has been something which I really needed.

But the device has problems with identifying the IP address on my laptop whhen connected through Wi-Fi. I am still trying to figure out why. Then when I connect it through the USB cable, it provides the internet connection. I will find the reason for that one day, and may be some of those people with more technical information can enlighten me about the same. I will connect with the cable for now. It is still available easily through the Wi-Fi for the mobile phone and so I can continue to use the device.

Airtel 4G: Day II and III

I had already made the post about the Day One of my Airtel 4G usage time, and I am adding my experience of high-speed internet from the next two days here. I hope to continue this usage, but as my journeys to Cochin are rather limited, I can’t be sure about the same and I am not certain about when there will be the details about a possible Day Four. All the photos used in this blog post were taken by me on my Asus Zenfone 5 and on the side of the road while checking the speed of #Airtel4G 😀

4G Day II: The second day takes the #Airtel4G first to Aluva which has been my home for most of my life. We stopped at the Mahnami Restaurant to have food and check the internet, and it gave very good speed there. This happens just a few months after we shifted from Aluva – a lot of things happened at the town after our shifting; Premam, Mumbai Taxi and now the availability of #Airtel4G, soon to be followed by the Kochi Metro which ends there. Aluva surely has the high-speed now, even though we didn’t check the insides of the town.

I always like to start by loading my Movie Review place :D

I always like to start by loading my Movie Review place! Hail Movies of the Soul 😀

After Aluva, the next stop was at Kalamassery, a little distance from the HMT distance where we could park the car in peace. There was the highest speed attained with the speed test, and we checked the Wynk Music and Youtube there; there was absolutely no lag at all. This is quite a lot for me as I have never really had high-speed internet in my dreams (It was mostly about just having internet all the time). Here is a reason to study at Saint Paul’s College – the Airtel 4G speed available around.

We stopped at Tripunithura and found a speed almost the same as Kalamassery. Later, I had a detailed check on the same at my cousin’s place and realized that once again it is not available inside the house as it became 2G again. The speed at the terrace was good, but returning inside home meant the loss of that speed – the location was on one of the pocket roads near SN Junction. I would guess that Tripunithura is the end of 4G at this side, and the entrance to Airtel 4G from the South. It is another thing that needed to be tested and known.

Watching the Phantom trailer here with speed!

Watching the new Phantom trailer here with the high speed @Kalamassery!

4G Day III: The third day was actually the official movie day. It could have been the second day with the movies, but I had to wait for all of the Onam weekend movies to release. I had to test this one inside a multiplex and so I decided to go for the movie Double Barrel for the first show of its release at Cinemax, Oberon Mall. It was also to add Edappally to the list of places where I had tried this. The mall has been my most visited place right from its beginning, and so I felt that this was the best place to give it a try.

So, that made sure that my local theatre wandering program took a break for the multiplex. I couldn’t get a ticket for the movie as they had cancelled the show (happens with me a lot) and so I decided to choose Phantom instead later to be followed by Jamna Pyari only. Well, people say that you have to watch a Malayalam movie for Onam, but this one was the next available best choice at that time. So, after seeing the higher speed in the mall, I waited for this movie to start. When it did, I immediately checked if 4G was there on the handset.

Checked the Airtel Wynk Music App; this was fast too!

Checked the Airtel Wynk Music App; this was fast too @Kalamassery!

Well, it was there at one second and then it switched out of it – the process continued and most of the time, it was just 2G. So, posting from inside is not going to be easy. May be PVR and Q Cinemas will have slightly different situations being closer to the Edappally Junction and the Vyttila Junction, but at the core, I believe that the things are going to be the same. I could get the speed back right after the movie, and I would love to have a get-together at the mall and see how fast the photos get uploaded.

First Day of Airtel 4G

Most of you do know about #Airtel4G. Well, I have seen a lot of my friends talk about it on Facebook, Twitter and the blogs. Airtel has launched its 4G services at Cochin on August 25th and at Calicut on August 26th. Airtel has chosen Onam as the right moment here, and I couldn’t agree more about this choice. It is also available at the same price as 3G, and home delivery of SIMs is also known to be there. Airtel leads the way here, and being the first one here, holds the advantage. I was given a chance to preview #Airtel4G and I am going to give an account of what happened after that.

The 4G enabled phone - a Samsung Galaxy A5 [16GB]

The sample 4G enabled phone – a Samsung Galaxy A5 [16GB]

Even though it was made perfectly clear that this was for the city of Cochin only, I took my chances and tried this at Perumbavoor, and I am sure that the situation is the same at the other towns which are around the place – Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha and Angamaly. At these towns the 4G device as well as the 4G mobile works only on 2G. There will be no shifting to 3G here as the switching is done directly to 2G. The Airtel 4G Mobile Wi-Fi device had some difficulties with my laptop, but worked perfectly with my mobile without 4G – on my Asus Zenfone 5.

So, I decided to return to the city on the first day and make sure that this 2G became 4G again. I made the decision to travel on the same route which I took on the day on which I attended the preview at Kaloor – the speed test had been a dream success at that time. Kaloor did seem to the place where the 4G was stronger than ever – it was so quick. But on this day, I decided to choose Thrikkakkara instead. It used to be one of my most visited places during the time I spent at Bharata Matha College. So, I thought that I would start the 4G adventure from the home of one my friends there.

Vampire Owl: So, what is the plan, soldier?

Vampire Bat: We attack the City of Cochin for #Airtel4G from all flanks. We desire and deserve high speed internet. See the map below for further information.

A simplified map of the attack plan to get the high speed :P

A simplified map of the very complicated attack plan to get the high speed internet 😛

The place was aroung Vazhakkala at Thrikkakkara, just about two or three minutes walk from the main road near Biriyani Hut. The 4G was not easy to find inside home, even though it was available outside home; and so we decided to go to the terrace to see if it could do more. The scene was a lot better there on the top, and the 4G was strong there. I had problems in connecting my laptop to the device there too (even though I realized later that I could do it with the USB cable when the Wi-Fi failed me). I apologize for my lack of knowledge related to technology – I am just not into it much.

I checked the speed on the mobile with the 4G SIM and also on my 3G phone connecting it to the 4G Wi-Fi device. It was excellent – I am not a person who has had a great experience with speed throughout my life, and I have tolerated the lower speeds with great patience – the only change to that was when I was in the UK (I don’t remember much from then though). Here with the Airtel 4G, I got 40-50 MB Android apps downloaded in around 30 seconds. Well, I am not used to such speed; never with any of the internet connections which I have used. This is surely my fastest internet experience so far, and the rest of my life has just got slower.

The Airtel 4G Mobile Wi-Fi device, or "the Mi-Fi"

The Airtel 4G Mobile Wi-Fi device, or “the Mi-Fi”

I connected my laptop to the Wi-Fi hotspot on the mobile with 4G SIM. My Windows 10 download just began again from where it had stopped at ten percent. I decided to wait for it to complete and the download took about fourty five minutes to finish the rest of the ninety percent of a total 2.7 GB as it was shown on the window. If I was to sit at home and use my usual broadband connection, it was to take a lot more time, and for the 2.5 GB, it would take me around eighteen to twenty hours – I might need to keep the laptop switched on for the whole night to make sure that things go smoothly for me during the day.

We actually stopped on the Seaport-Airport road on our way back, close to Bharata Mata College, and the speed test made it to the highest I had got. Well, I am not sure how that works, but returning home and checking the internet speed of my broadband made me feel that a return to the Stone Age was happening and I needed to resist the same. But unfortunately, 4G is not available at my town yet. I have to wait for it, and until now, I hope to use 4G during my regular visit to the theatres at Cochin – as long as there are multiplexes and movies, I can use this to my advantage.

Soon to follow with Day 2 of #Airtel4G: Hopefully with Aluva-Kalamassery-Kakkanad-Thrippunithura! 🙂 Lets also talk about the devices and how they have been/will be further helpful for me on the next few days.

Internet and Speed

I have never really had a good experience with mobile internet, which is why I am not that much of a fan of having internet on my phone. It applies to almost every mobile network as there has been some problem here and there. I usually use my Wi-Fi for my mobile and even when I am going somewhere else, I try to keep my dongle with me with hope to connect it somewhere. The problems with my mobile internet connections were the high costs, slow speed and the lack of interesting plans.

I remember reading about 3G at one point. It was so big at that time, and now the time has come for 4G. I have never really been a consistent follower of a network, and has had my history of changing through them. 4G becomes a good reason to choose Airtel in this world of so many mobile phone networks when nothing really works with the mobile internet. We hope for something and we never really get them as we keep waiting. May be, 4G with its speed, can change this situation.

artl

We have wasted a lot of time with the lack of speed. With movie, music and video download, it has been quite natural. When something like that happens, we are provided with no option but to wait. There are times when we have trouble in loading some sites and it proves to be eternal – we wait and wait. At the end of the day, the only thing that we get is the opportunity to wait. Do we pay for that opportunity to wait, like paying for a dog which bites us? Is it the right thing to do when better options are available?

Well, vampires are supposed to be immortal and so are the angels. The Devil will also agree. But some network connections are those which test your mortality as a human being. Forget the downloads, because some cases cannot even come close to that – they make me afraid to download because we have to wait so much. Do we want to use that opportunity to wait as if it is what we get and it is what we deserve? Don’t we deserve better in this age of more modern technology?

In a world in which nobody has time to wait, Airtel 4G is going to be interesting. Patience is no longer considered a virtue as things happen so fast. There is a lot of value for time, unless you are jobless as I am; still I don’t have enough time in a day. The available 24 hours in a day never prove to be enough for me and I hope for me! So, I can guess how valuable it is for people who have jobs. So, this never-ending wait is never a good thing. Everything needs to be faster, and it should begin with the internet.

My hope about Airtel 4G is to change my idea about mobile internet in a positive way. It hasn’t been that great related to any mobile operator, as something terrible happens every time. The mobile internet has been my long time enemy with 2G and 3G, and it is something which should change with the new high speed 4G mobile internet from Airtel. I have seen the advertisement about the same already, and I believe that the most of the people have gone through that already.

The new option can get rid of a lot of problems as Airtel is the first telecom operator to come up with the 4G services and it happens across 296 cities across India as this goes nation wide. There is the option of free home delivery of the 4G SIM card and it is to be available at the same rate of 3G SIM too. It is actually just one tweet away – #GetAirtel4G. You can check for the 4G option from Airtel for more details about the same as you get the same data benefits of the existing 3G pack along with enjoying high speed 4G at no extra cost: http://www.airtel.in/4g/

My Room! My Room!

I have always wanted my room to be different and personal. Some people will call it weird, but I wouldn’t mind that. If my room doesn’t have something special compared to the others, it wouldn’t be mine at all. Even when we were staying at the flat, I had taken special care in having some variety with the colours, and now when we are at our house, I have tried to bring a lot of variety there too. My room is partially bed room, study room and kitchen, as you can divide my room into three.

Yes, I would like my room to be a lot different than any other. The current room was chosen by me because it was on the back side of the house, facing the green vegetation which surrounded the abandoned house there. It served as a certain kind of inspiration for me. There is no chance of me changing this room and choosing another. So, I hope to make this room my little dream world. I already got it coloured in three, in red, blue and yellow, and even though I would have preferred a little bigger room, I am hoping to make it more awesome!

The Godrej Interio photo actually inspires me to use another colour for my room, and it is purple. I believe that this colour can bring only positive feeling, and I haven’t yet seen the colour being used in the homes of my friends and relatives. People have always chosen the light colours, but I would choose the darker ones, and while brightening the red colour on one side of the wall, I would choose purple for the rest of the room. That should bring some more of the needed variety to the room.

interio1

I already have facilities for placing a lot of items in my room even as the total size of the room is not that huge. There are enough cupboards here to keep my whole life in it, and what I would require now are open shelves where I can keep things which are needed regularly. For the same, I hope to make good utilization of the walls. I already have some wall shelves, but I hope to get a few bigger ones which can be used to the best advantage. I will need to have those of different sizes.

I would need to change the bed with something which is longer, and surely made of wood. I would need a new almirah to replace the big one which is present now. My favourite material for all these has been mahogany as usual. There is also space for an extra computer table along with the study table. I would have that made of the same material too. I have a hanging light right now, and I would like to use a chandelier instead of it so that I look up while I am on the bed and enjoy its beauty.

My room’s curtains are dark purple now, and with the change of colours of the wall, I would like to change this one to brown or red depending upon the designs which are available. I need a better stand for putting the recently used clothes along with an extra wardrobe on the side. I haven’t been a fan of fashion, but this will surely help in getting things in order. Some art on the wall will only do good. Some creatives pieces of art should also be places on the shelves to give some more of the special feeling.

My room is no awesome room as far as designers are concerned, because they can always use better rooms to create better output. But I have been so addicted to my room that sleeping somewhere else is not that easy. But if you visit the room, you will know that it is different, and there is a certain mixture of things that might seem interesting. With all which has been already set up, it will be easy to create something awesome out of it. There can be more variety than ever before.

I am participating in the  Upload and Transform #HomeCanvas activity in association with Godrej Interio and BlogAdda. If you are not blogging, you can still be a part of this activity. Here’s how

Some of the Changes

In the last few months, I have made the changes that I thought that I never would. I still don’t know if there are positives or negatives because I still doubt them. Sometimes, I feel that there was no real point in the same and all the decisions were quite wrong. Then I think that change is good and can bring something fair in the variety. Well, life is very confusing as long as you decide to live it; otherwise things are quite easy and right into the grave. May be I should ask at the cemetery. These are the changes.

Buying a domain instead of using the free WordPress.com option: I never really wanted to buy a domain because I am a jobless person and I seem to go on without having a job or income forever; so this buying a domain might never stay forever as far as I am concerned. I still have no hope to continue having this domain because I have no salary, and I expect to lose that domain anytime and return to that WordPress.com site. Movies of the Soul might not stay with me forever as a separate domain.

But I had to buy that for now, because I thought that I needed it. Many of my friends has told me that it was better, and I was afraid that I might not be able to get that domain if I had chosen to delay – so I had to take that. May be it will bring something good for my movie reviews – it hasn’t done much until now, but I hope that it will be good some day. May be something will come up and I will get a job before I have to pay for the next one year. I would otherwise hope that parents won’t mind another year of Movies of the Soul.

mots

Using Bing instead of Google: This is surely what I never thought that I would do, as I have shifted from Google to Bing, thus permanently changing my Search Engine. I have used Google Search for a long time, but I later found out that even though we won’t really matter in the end, Microsoft’s Bing is rather more caring for the common users. Even though things will always be in favour of the corporate side and we are just those little cockroaches for them, I have found that even my blog links appear better on Bling than Google.

Bing uses a reward policy for searching, and I have found that inspirational in searching; I see no reason why it shouldn’t. It provides separate credits for computer as well as mobile. It took some time to let me into the program after registering for the Windows Live Account, and I haven’t completely figured it out, but everything looks nice as of now. There are also rewards for inviting friends. Well, I would like to keep my search useful rather than do it for no reason.

Using the other browsers consistently at least on the mobile: I still use Google Chrome on the laptop even though I have installed other browsers too. But at least in the mobile, I hope to use the other browsers by default, and I mostly use the UC Browser and Opera. I have been using them consistently and hope to continue doing so. I don’t know why, but Movies of the Soul looks a lot better on UC Browser when looking through the mobile. It also seems to be the faster browser among them all.

Getting a gamepad and speakers from Flipkart: I still have not understood about this – I don’t play computer games or listen to songs these days. The games have left me because I can’t even come close to winning any game of life. The music no longer makes me feel anything too. So, I wonder why I bought these. Still, I hope to play some games and listen to any song. May be, I will get some of my interest back. Things have been going mechanical these days, and I hope for some twist to happen.

A Few Weird Wishes

I have had many wishes during my life-time, even though I have not retained many of them right now, not because they have happened, but because the chances are only becoming less as I become older; as I get older, I only become weaker. I haven’t been completely against miracles in my life, but when nothing really happens you have to cease believing in positive things – miracles is just one of them, and goodness can follow the route to extinction as there is a lot of time left for the world to end. At the same time, there will be wishes.

To see the world while falling down from the sky: I have been to a number of very tall towers, and even when I was standing at the top of those tall church towers here, I used to wonder about this. The view was very good from the top. What would happen if I jump from there, and how the image will be during my fall. I have only felt that during the first person shooter games which had quite a lot of buildings, and may be this real fall will help to have a more realistic view of the same.

DSC01338

To go to sleep and never wake up: This still remains one of my wishes. With life having no real point, this might be the right time to have this wish. I thought about this yesterday, day before yesterday, and the day before, but nothing reall worked. Well, the nights never end, and so lets see what can happen on the days to come. After all, what happens more than the rest of things in my life is sleep. Can I at least go the other dimension like in the Insidious movies? That should also be fair.

To be adopted by aliens: When we are denied too much by the humanity, we have to look for the next species not belonging to this planet. With the basic human nature returning to evil with ease, we have to depend on the others for hope. The undead should be the first option, but as too many humans are in this planet who outnumber the undead, we have to look for the best option, which will be on another planet. So, I have been looking for a spaceship to appear for quite a long time.

To die and return from the dead: Being dead and back; I have always thought about it as a lot of fun. The other world might be something which can provide a lot of valuable experience to make us succeed in life. After all, they should have met a lot of interesting dead people who have passed or still remain in that world. We will just have to make sure that the return is made before our bodies are buried or cremated – otherwise, we will be caught in that world forever with no existence left here.

It is to the insides of Earth that we have to return, for we are dust.

To find a city underwater: I had special love for the underwater cities, a lot more than the cities built in the air, underground or on other planets. No, not under the smaller water bodies, but under the oceans rather than anywhere else, because the chance of being taken over by the saline water is more. The wish developed early, but got further strength after playing the game Bioshock, which had an underwater city of Rapture with enough horror to bring the enjoyment – the graphics remained so good too.

To have a detailed discussion with death: I have kept this on my wishlist for quite some time, and it still remains there. I have been interested with this since I read Emily Dickinson poetry for the first time. The interest had also developed earlier with Pappan Priyappetta Pappan, a Malayalam movie which features Yama and was the first movie of the famous Siddique-Lal team. Death is not the kind of person who has many friends, and so, I think that there will be no problem in having a discussion.

Mamma Mia! Food!

blog-landing

“Rocky and Mayur have ventured out to explore food from all parts of India and curate videos on Askme.com – I’m contributing my part by relishing my favorite dishes at Mamma Mia and sharing my views with you all!

You can also upload your video review on AskMe and stand a chance to meet Rocky and Mayur.”

We were returning from Thalayolaparambu, and instead of taking the other usual taken shorter routes through Muvattupuzha, Mulanthuruthy or Kolenchery, we decided to take another route, through South Paravoor and Udayamperoor, leading to Thrippunithura and then Thrikkakkara. There was the need to have food, but we couldn’t find a good restaurant in the rush at Tripunithura, but at Thrikkakkara, just a few metres before the Bharata Matha College, we managed to find a restaurant which I had heard about before, but could never visit until that moment – the place called Mamma Mia.

It was called the "Food Court" and they actually meant it :D

It was called the “Food Court” and it surely has that kind of a setting 🙂

The entrance was inspiring and so was what awaited.

The one thing I knew better than the rest of the facts is that the restaurant belongs to Siddique – no, not the director of Bodyguard, but the actor who is also a well-known personality in Kerala. He is a person known for a variety of roles, from handling comedy with great skill, to being a villain as well as doing supporting roles; he has done them all. He has provided so much support to the superstars and the new faces of the Malayalam movie industry on the screen. So, when we took the right turn to this restaurant, we were expecting that kind of a variety with Mamma Mia.

There is variety in stalls, and you can be sure about that!

There is variety in the available stalls, and you can be sure about that!

You have the pictures of some great personalities to look at!

You have the pictures of some great personalities to look at while waiting!

We reached there around 12:55 PM. The crowd was not much, and even if there were more guests, there was plenty of space for them all. The setting was like that of a food court with different stalls around, and it made us wonder if we had to go for self-service. But as soon as we had chosen a table, the waiter was quickly there to take the orders. We were five, and so we ordered three plates of Kerala Meals, one Biriyani Rice and one Vegetable Noodles, along with out usual common curry of Paneer, this time the variant of Chilli Paneer. Yes, I am a proud vegetarian now, and I hope I can keep it that way.

Why is always Kerala Meals the first thing to come?

Why is Kerala Meals always the first thing to come? It makes me jealous.

The Kerala Meals remained the same, and we don’t usually find much differences related to that from different restaurants – we felt that it was overpriced. They were served almost instantly, followed by the Biriyani Rice. The Vegetable Noodles and Chilli Paneer took more time though. Biriyani Rice tasted very good, but I felt that it was a little too less in quantity. May be the rising hunger also played a part in that feeling. The Vegetable Noodles was also good with nice quantity, and I felt that Chilli Paneer was very fresh – and it wasn’t too spicy; I usually have different types of Paneer with too much of a spicy feeling, but this felt better.

Biriyani Rice comes second because it is also rice :D

Biriyani Rice comes second, may be because it is also rice and it is noon 😀

The time taken for serving was lesser than we thought, that too with more people coming in to have food. We finished the food program with Mango Shake and Vanilla Ice cream. The shake was good with both quality and quantity even as there was no ice cream scoop in it. The ice cream tasted the usual way, as vanilla has been the usual choice for very long. Well, there are actually a lot of choices here, and the menu book proves to be a good and interesting read. There are also a few things on it which I haven’t heard about, and I look forward to trying them on another day when I go for a movie at PVR, Cinemax or Q Cinemas through that route.

The last things to come might be the best, in most cases ;)

Still, the last things to come might be the best, in most cases; I can prove 😉

The ambience was actually very good. There were pictures of Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Sachin Tendulkar and other prominent figures on the wall in black and white. The service was actually the best thing here. The waiter assured us that the rest of the food will be ready in two minutes as there was a slight delay in the case of the Noodles and Paneer. He told us that the centralized billing system was not working and so he got separate bills from different counters. When he saw that I was staring at the bills and taking snaps, he took the payment to the counters, paid them and went back to each counter and also brought me the bills back after asking if I would need it. Well, I needed them to write this post!

Well, these were the ones which finished the good times!

Mango Shake and Vanilla Ice cream were the ones which finished the good times!

The price is fair here for most of the food items. There was also enough parking space and a guard to help us with the same. Even though the traffic was heavy, he made sure that he made a gap there so that we could go through. It usually takes us a lot more time to get through. The washroom and toilets were also clean. The location is very nice, on the Seaport-Airport Road close to the well-known Bharata Mata College where I had also studied for some time. You can also take a bus because the stop is quite near to this restaurant. There are other restaurants around, but this one catches attention better. It feels good to find a new place to have food and it turns out to be something for the favourites list! #AskmeFood

There is even some variety in bills! See and understand :P

There is even a lot of variety in the bills! See and understand 😛

Bought from Flipkart

***A list of some interesting things I bought from Flipkart.

Photo of a part of room with key holder and wooden shelf

Photo of a part of room with key holder and wall shelf (Taken on Zenfone 5)

Eveready RF-06 Rechargeable 5 Blade Table Fan
Among all those things which I bought, this one has the power to save the day more than any other. I have always wanted the battery fans because the power cuts are so frequent, and we are still looking for an inverter. This is a rechargeable fan with LED lights which will help a lot when the electricity fails us again. With such willingness to play with te consumer feelings, the electricity board virtually asks us to buy this and blame them a little less. The switches also glow in the darkness and so things get easier. It is actually quite small, but still powerful. I had to call the electrician to assemble those pieces which came in the name of the fan, but it has served me very well after that 😀

Sajja Craft Wooden Wall Shelf
This comes as parts which can be assembled with ease, and how easy it is, can vary. I have actually used this one in a different way, not like the zig zag mode which is shown in the picture but in the model of the steps which go towards the corner. I have used it to keep a basket in which I put all my move tickets, a small desk calendar, a pen holder, a Transformer toy and a Buddhist pagoda souvenir which I bought from Sri Lanka. It can surely take a lot of weight. There is another one which I bought, and it has one layer for putting small things and some hangers for putting the keys. Click here for that one: Love Wall Shelf

sajja

Design o Vista Wooden Key Holder
When I went back to look at it, a few days after buying it when there was an offer, I saw that it was permanently discontinued. I actually wondered why. It is amazingly good-looking, even without it being that much of a use as a key holder because of the smaller size. Still, we can use it to create an effect of having something special in our rooms. It is now the first thing that the people who come into my room notice, and they are asking what it is. It looks like a small safe, and has a map on the front with a ship wheel and bowline on it. There is also another showpiece from the same company which I bought – a ship model which was a nice thing too – see The Figurine

Pigeon Kettle Favourite 1000 ml Electric Kettle
As a tea lover, I have always wanted an electric kettle; we actually had one already, but I wanted to have one for myself for those tea adventures. The other one is Prestige, with an extra coating, special colour, design and so costing a lot more; this is rather a cheap and worthy alternative. The kettle remains the easiest way to boil water, and there will always be that day on which it is too cold, but you really want to take a bath. So, I had to choose this one to save the day. I use this many times a day, and this should be among the most used electronic equipments at home – still, nowhere near the total time of this laptop working 😉

Anjali Multi Purpose Juicer Plastic Hand Juicer
I always wanted to keep making juice and drink during those breaks between tea, and with one part of my room being somewhat a kitchen, I add this one to the list of things used there. Watermelons and oranges were the best choices with the juicer, and with self-sufficiency in having something other than tea achieved, I can write more in peace. I hope to test it with grapes sooner or later. May be with harder fruits, it can serve as the means to some exercise, or may be even get broken, thus proving that we are strong enough 😀

anjali

Portronics POR 465
This did feel a little over-priced when I first looked at it, but the quality here is really good; just looking at the other less priced things will give you an idea of how much better this one is in comparison with anything else of similar type. The transmission speed is also a lot higher. There are four USB 3.0 ports to make sure that the problem of having a low number of USB slots is solved. I had always wanted something like this for my laptop because with the mouse, USB internet device and the external speakers connected, there was no free USB slot for me to connect anything more.

VISKO 601 Garden Tool Kit
Here is a multi-purpose device for the garden. This is a much needed thing to work on the beautification of the nature around our homes. The collection of tools will make us more interested in gardening as things geta lot easier. The product is surely worth the price and it has inspired more of a family gardening here. ***These are the seven interesting things which I bought from Flipkart during the last six months. Do you have a similar list? I believe that you do, because we are all sailing on the same boat of blogging, and internet shopping should come naturally to us.

The Banana Pedagogy

There is something about the new generation parents. There is usually no time for everyone these days, and for the rest of them, there are just instructions. It is a busy world and they are caught in that web of timelessness which runs through modernity. They work as if the life is based on a book, and also comes with a list of things to do and not to do. Even with all their lack of experience and time, they feel that they could do good, but it is nowhere close to being true.

What we see is a reflection of the method of teaching which is used in the schools and colleges, to teach and to consider the receiver as the one to just hear and obey what all are told to them. But with this lack of experience and time, one has to wonder if parents of this age can really afford to do that. The education system itself is already messed up due to the same. The solution is to be the one to care, and establish that connection with the children just like how a teacher-student should work.

chocos (1)

In a world where teachers are chosen from an outdated BEd course or a ridiculous question paper which tests luck in the form of test supported by reservations based on caste, community and religion, the education level is already going down, and so the goodness has to begin at home. You can’t trust what is taught anymore, because it is just forced down your throats. You can’t be sure about how well your child undergoes the thing which is called education even though a better and more suitable name should be something else.

This is the time when anyone and everyone passes the State Board Exams with free A+ and also with all the available vanity, envy and avarice, as you can see flux boards everywhere shamelessly boasting about the same. I have known many kinds of boasting, but what we see here is boasting from the government about more students passing, and from those related to the students about the number of A+. It is a clear case of the lack of values and the reflection of the fact that A+ doesn’t give one a better standard.

chocos (2)

In this age when students don’t even get their text books at the right time, the parents’ support is more important than ever. You can’t trust the internet with the pedagogy, as you end up being a dumb student from IIN believing everything which is seen on internet remains true throughout life. Yes, everyone passes the tenth from the state without studying anything these days, compared to that struggle which the students had to go through at the time when our generation studied. But what do they gain?

The students are left with no values or even less wisdom and there is more chance of going the wrong path with inappropriate friends, and so buddy parents become very important in the present world of chaos. They have to make learning fun and make sure that their children don’t deviate from the path which is the best for them. It is more of a need rather than what is wanted. There are a few such responsible parents in the present world, and some children are born blessed.

A parent can easily help a child in building a fine vocabulary and improving the knowledge in history depending on the knowledge of the person. There are also chances in the basic science and Mathematics. Childhood should be fun as well as informative. It can’t be forced like some other things. Children got to grow up, and it has to happen well; for the same, the skills of the parents and the approach which they follow, become very significant. It is based on the childhood that the rest are built.

One Sweet Alternative

It is already July! Time does run very fast! And you know the season! After a tough summer, Kerala entered the monsoon season a little late and has had its effects of the heat for a longer time just like having those pre-monsoon showers a lot more than the last year. Yes, the temperature has indeed increased in the God’s Own Country, and it also feels a lot more hot than the recent years. There is a certain amount of burning feeling in the presence of only a lesser number of trees, especially in the towns and the cities.

Summer might be the best time for having those sip-ups and ice creams, as we remember those days from our school-time. But it is not summer any more, and one has to wonder what is to have during these monsoon days. It is surely not those milk shakes which made us feel awesome during those summers. Even with the rise in temperature, the rain cools things down all of a sudden. So, what would replace the ice creams? Well, there might be many options with sugar content, but honey is a lot healthier substitute to the same.

honey

Honey makes sure that there are less calories involved and a better management of weight can be done; even skin got its advantages from honey. People spend too much time at the gymnasiums to reduce their fat and at the same time, they also end up reducing the weight of their pockets – not more fat wallets either. So, honey remains that fine source of energy and keeps you healthy and a bit more wealthier than having to go for fitness and eat those costlier things made of sugar.

Along with jaggery (known in Kerala as sarkara), honey can boast about its health benefits, and even above that, related to the lack of threats to one’s health. It is natural and is known factor that helps in digestion. Honey is known to make a difference in health not only in the Ancient Indian texts, but also in the Ancient Egypt as well as the Greek city-states. The ancient scholars from all religions were quite aware of the same, until science came up with other alternatives which were not natural.

honey2

Honey is also one of the panchamirtham. You can find something about honey in most of the religous texts and also the derived works. The Native American Civilizations, especially the Mayans knew it and so did the Chinese. Mayans actually considers the stingless bees of Central America as sacred. The myths all around the world give a special significance to honey. It is also a known fact that in the grand surviving text from the Roman Empire, Naturalis Historia by Pliny the Elder, we can see that the author dedicates a lot of area for the honey and its makers.

Honey is often considered as a good choice to make the immune system better, and people often use it against allergies even though done without certainty. People with throat problems are also known to have more of honey. I have a good number of aunties here who are always telling their children to have more and more honey. Some of them ask whether they have actually had honey on that day before talking about anything else. Honey is often like something which removes the worry of the parents who are concerned too much about what their children are having.

Dabur Honey thus becomes an interesting and valuable substitute for all the sugar that we take in, and the substitute can stop us from moving to the high blood sugar status, but we are all going towards the same. May be there is a point to stop and shift to a better alternative. It is the healthy and balanced diet that we all need. But the question still remains if we can follow that. May be with Dabur Honey popularizing the same, and honey getting to be an even more popular thing, it is still possible to have a Honey Diet!

Surf it All! Surf it Fast!

I have used a number of internet browsers throughout my long computerized life, and among them, UC Browser has had a special place in the last few years. I have to admit that I didn’t realize that it was available for PC, but my android phones always had that installed. As I am waiting to download UC Browser 5.2 for PC, I can’t help thinking how much I used it on my android phone. I have actually kept many browsers on my phone, but UC Browser has indeed turned out to be the fastest there.

It is part of UCWeb Inc. based in China. It is now available on the platforms Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Symbian, Java ME and BlackBerry with a new version of the Personal Computer. With more than 500 million global users, its majority of users are in India and China. It is for further grasp on the ever evolving Indian marked that UC Browser has added something which will work like a dream in the Indian subcontinent – something related to the most popular game in India.

uc

A talk about this browser is never complete without adding something about cricket, because UC Cricket is big part of the same. When we open the UC Browser home screen, there is the – UC Cricket there with a blue icon. Currently it shows as T20 2015, but I believe it changes according to the matches. UC Browser provides some nice cricket service in our cricket crazy nation including the latest news related to the game along the live scores, and they are just one click away. It means that if we wish to check the score, there is no need to search on Google anymore.

The cricket fans are going to love this, as they can once again cherish one of those few things which are common among the people rising above that diversity. All the different cultures, customs, traditions, food habits, languages, religions, castes and ethnicities are expected to come together with the sports, and as it is now, it is cricket which unites people in a good way or the bad way. As cricket becomes that common factor among all kinds of people, UC Browser clearly scores here, and scores big, just like Chris Gayle going on an unstoppable assault.

When you click on the icon, it goes to a special page where things are a lot easier. No, it is not like going to the Cricinfo website as this is quite simple and without trouble. You can see the live scores which can be clicked for details, and there are also the options for checking the recently concluded matches as well as the fixtures of the upcoming cricket games. You can also choose between the international, domestic or both types of matches to display for your convenience. The news is right below followed by the special articles which come right after it.

ucyuvi

There is a lot of cricket right there, and it doesn’t end, as the videos and photos follow to provide a lot more of cricket. It is like going to Cricinfo, but in an easier and simpler way, and it will be what we need considering the limitations that the networks have and also the existence of the need to have a quick look at the score. We Indians can’t afford a slower or less efficient display of scores, can we? Well, Indian cricket itself can’t afford to go weak with the curse of match-fixing, corruption and terrible losses to Bangladesh wandering over the heads of the players.

UC Browser will bring cricket and make us attached to UC Cricket which means that cricket will have more people looking for the scores. The other quick links are also there, including BookMyShow, Quikr, OLX, Amazon, Paytm, Facebook, Snapdeal etc. There are also separate icons for shopping, sports, downloads, and other fun and entertainment along with the most visited button which makes things much easier. There is no stopping UC Browser is making things better while browsing online, that is for sure.

Spend some time and data to download UC Browser @ http://www.ucweb.com/ and check UC Cricket http://www.ucweb.com/English/UCbrowser/cricket.html

***I have a special love for UC Browser as it is the name of the college where I studied, UC College – yes, it is also the college shown in the super-hit Nivin Pauly movie, Premam.

Making Life Better

I have been just sitting at home, locked inside my room and staring at the wall, the first one which is painted in maroon, and I had some idea about how to make life better. Thinking about it in a normal way won’t help it though, as I have a better chance to get a job as a pirate in the Arabian Sea or an Anaconda seller rather than here. Well, thanks to the days of reading books and watching movies, there are other options, a lot of them. I hope that I can be useful to at least a few people.

1. Apply for Hannibal’s liver eating campaign: Hannibal Lecter is the reason why we are not really defeated. He has left us the option to be of use. There is something about that one character. The TV series was good and the movie had received many accolades. So, lets consider this donation a tribute to the movie and the character immortalized by Anthony Hopkins winning the Academy Award for the main categories. This should be fixed for the extremities of hopelessness; the purpose of our lives is to useful to the society or at least someone – lets hope that all of us can do something worthy, or in the end, there is Hannibal Lecter.

betterlife (1)

2. Donate blood for Countess Dracula’s activities: Elizabeth BĂĄthory should find it really difficult to maintain her youth without enough blood. I don’t really fit into her needed categories, but as it might be very difficult for her to find the best these days, I hope that she would adjust with what she gets. She should have just given an advertisement on the newspapers, because we have seen much terrible ones already – at least her desire is for a cause. I really hope that she still got the castle; otherwise it won’t be that interesting. She can have the bloof anyway.

3. Explore the Bermuda Triangle: If a place is also known as the Devil’s Triangle, it is one’s duty to explore and prove that it is not, even if it is really so. Even though people might want to relate it mostly to fiction, I would hope that it is not so during my visit. I am planning to discover a portal to another dimension of the demons, a secret entrance to the world of ruthless mermans or quick travel machine to another planet left there by the aliens. I am hoping to prove to be more useful to any species as of now. Demons and aliens will like me better, I believe.

4. Be the sacrifice at The Cabin in the Woods: This is actually for a very noble cause. If you have watched the movie which might be the most highly rated horror movie for a long time, you will know. This sacrifice is needed to save humanity, and even though the end of humans is better for nature as a whole, I have nothing to do and so got to be at least the sacrifice. Well, humanity might not be worth saving, but that movie surely was. So, this is more with respect towards the film than anything else. If you want to watch the sacrifice live, please leave an application for spectator mode.

betterlife (2)

5. Volunteer for the House of Wax programme: The movie is nice and so is the idea. There is surely something interesting at work here, and it is up-to us to contribute to the work of art. Creativity has to be promoted in each case, and we have that skill on display here which goes unnoticed. The horror just comes as a bonus. If interested in being part of the programme, do watch House of Wax movie and plan the future. There is actually more than one movie with this idea. Wax statues are mostly better than humans, and so it is an interesting choice to have a House of Wax at home if possible.

6. Replace the Sleeping Beauty: Among all those fairy-tale heroines, Sleeping Beauty had the easiest thing to do. Along with being a princess, she just had to get that curse working with one single activity and go to sleep. I have been following the sleepy idea for a long time, but with an alarm. If situation continues to be the same with no opportunity and all reservations, may be the number of sleeping beauties will increase and all the princes will also be sleeping. As the sleep activity comes naturally to me, I am expecting this to be a frequent thing.

ICH: Our True Lifeline

Whenever we have travelled around Kerala in a car or on a two-wheeler, there was always the need for a place to have tea at regular intervals, and there was surely the need to have food. We couldn’t have food from here and there, because nobody can say for sure how good it is, especially by the quality. You might see the best looking restaurants, but there no guarantee about the quality, especially when wandering through those areas were there are no friends to recommend the best places.

The oldest memory that I ever had of a restaurant which still exists, goes back to the Indian Coffee House, even though that branch at Perumbavoor no longer exists, with another branch opening about eight kilometres from there instead. At that time, I used to say that I wanted to visit an Indian Coffee House, and any of those branches would do, because they were all the same, and there was quality. I had already visited every branch in Ernakulam district long before I was a teenager.

20140808_154422

Indian Coffee House is spread all over Kerala, as it has the largest number of branches in the state. It has evolved into being the best choice of the Malayalis all around. It is fully owned by the employees of the restaurant chain as a co-operative society, with a committee elected for management. The biggest encouragement for starting this chain of restaurant goes to the popular communist leader of Kerala, A.K. Gopalan who was a leading social activist in the state. You can see his portrait at every branch of ICH.

With its fifty year anniversary celebrated in 2008, this group of restaurants having its headquarters at Thrissur has its most number of branches there itself, along with the same number at the capital city of Trivandrum. Considering the branches from Thrissur to Trivandrum, they have the same price everywhere. The northern version of Indian Coffee House from Palakkad to Kasargode is kind of different, even with the structure remaining the same. You can notice the difference on the logo itself.

DSC07546

Even though the Indian Coffee House from Central Kerala to the South which covers eight of the fourteen districts has been more of the thing of concern for me, I have found the quality very good in both cases, as I have tried both. The Thrissur based ICH does have the Poori Masala factor available at all times, which was replaced by Idli, and that too only in the morning for the Northern based ICH. The choices were less in the latter case. For the former though, most of the things shown on the menu are available throughout the day.

Lets get back to the Thrissur based ICH completely which deals with the Travancore-Cochin area, and you can actually check the rates from their website itself. After it opened a branch at Aluva, it had become our regular place to have some tea. I was highly disappointed when the branch at Muvattupuzha was closed, and it is quite an addition to the earlier shock given by the closing of their restaurant at Perumbavoor. Well, now Perumbavoor surely needs one, but not at that earlier location which is too crowded.

I would say that the best branch opened is at the Angamaly Bus Station, which is a very nice choice of location, as the town now got three of them. I have the opinion that each and every bus station, railway station, theatre and mall should have one Indian Coffee House near enough. Also imagine having one near those pilgrim centres. They have the best people serving food in their trademark clothing, and having the fine quality food. With the low costs and tasting nice and exactly the same in each branch, ICH always scores.

All About the Food

I haven’t been too interested in food these days, as the taste has bothered me less; but still I have my favourite places for every food item, both the vegetarian and the non-vegetarian, as well as the drinks. This list is based on the restaurants around Aluva and Perumbavoor, on the north eastern side of the city of Cochin, and are part of the Greater Cochin Area or the extended Kochi Metropolitan Area, within fifty kilometres from the centre of the city, and not more than an hour and half journey from the city unless there is the worst traffic problem.

Masala Dosa is the best at Anna Gowri Restaurant, Aluva – I have found the right combination of both the masala and dosa with the quantity being exact, rather than having too much masala or just those huge potatoes which make it only a potato dosa. But if you want some special varities of the same, you might want to try the Saravana Bhavan at Perumbavoor which has Paneer Masala Dosa and a good number of special ones available after twelve PM, and the menu changes every day. The Idli there is nice too.

Navya Bakers brings the need to travel to Aluva and watch movie there.

Navya Bakers brings the need to travel to Aluva and watch movie there.

For the Ghee Dosa, the Dosa Corner at Perumbavoor is a very nice choice, followed by the Annapoorna Restaurant at the same place. For Vegetable Biriyani, I have always tried the Kammath’s Inn at Aluva, while for Poori Masala I have preferred the Shenoy’s Restaurant at theh same town. For all kinds of Oothappam, whether it is of onion or tomato, I have always preferred Anna Lakshmi restaurant at Aluva, located at Desom to be exact – it was my best find during my times at the Union Christian College.

The best Biriyani Rice or Ghee Rice and the best Beef Biriyani is from Orma Restaurant, Perumbavoor, followed by the Honeywell Restaurant at the same town. The favourite in the case of Chicken Biriyani goes back to Aluva, at the Grand Restaurant while the best for all kinds of beef curry, especially Chill Beef goes to the Surya Restaurant at Aluva. The best curries of chicken was from Taal, a restaurant at Aluva which no longer exists, much to my disappointment.

The best tea is from Indian Coffee House, and as far as I know, they have the best coffee too. They are also the best when it comes to the cutlets, and they are close to the railway station and the bus stand at Aluva, which makes them an easy place to visit. Then there is the hope to have shake, and it should be the Navya Bakers at Aluva which can also boast about having the best Vegetable, Meat, Egg and Chicken Puffs – and they are like my all-time favourite bakery along with Ceecee which has its existence at Perumbavoor, followed by Kumars.

Ceecee Bakery has had a long "cutlet" relationship with my childhood.

Ceecee Bakery has had a long “cutlet” relationship with my childhood.

From Aryaas at Aluva and Perumbavoor, there is also that nice combination of Fried Rice and Paneer Butter Masala. The new restaurants just keep coming, especially at Aluva, where there are so many more than those which had seen a few months ago. It just adds to the confusion about where to eat from, and even having tea has become more the confusion. We have often stood on the side of the road worried, as there were just too many options to choose from.

The doubts about food; we can never really move out of it. Indian Coffee House has been one entity – that chain of awesome restaurants which solved that problem up-to an extent. But the chain no longer works in Perumbavoor and Muvattupuzha which has left a big void on the MC Road, as it never existed at the next towns Koothattukulam, Kuravilangad and Ettumanoor either. Let’s hope that we can make a good list about the restaurants which are around the major towns. Who knows when we need to have that tea and some food? 😀

Odours of the House

A house has many odours. If you take a list of all kinds of smell which you come against, it can go on and on with no end. If you ask me about my favourite fragrance, it would be related to tea. A few of my friends had given me that kind of tea which I could smell and feel; one from Kenya and Tanzania; the other from Assam and the Middle East. My cousin had earlier provided me with Yorkshire tea which had that beautiful aroma which I still miss.

Tea has always been my favourite fragrance at home. The kitchen has been also a source of the best smell for a long time, despite us eating from outside quite a lot. Mostly, they have been the ones which cannot be defeated, and you just have to fall into the pit of temptation to eat your favourite dish. Simona the Kitty knows that better as she knows which house in the locality has fish, beef or chicken. We are mostly vegetarian and buy separate food for her, but she knows the houses where fish is prepared and stares at that direction.

Talking about Simona the Kitty or the most valiant one, she is the one who knows what everybody is cooking! You can fool many people, but not her with the smell and the hearing ability as she listens to each footstep and knows each and every odour around. If I could ask someone about the odours of home, it would be her, but she is not interested in sharing the skills of her nose with the inferior humans, and so I have to deal with this, at least until she changes her decision.

Still in other cases, there is the bad smell which competes with the good ones. The former gives us that big challenge which we have to overcome. Often, it is not an easy task. Simona the Kitty used to do something that she should have done outside in the soil, inside the home occasionally. But with more time spent outside, and as we kept her there for a longer time, that problem was solved forever, and she has turned into the extra smart kitten.

The smell of fish has been the biggest challenge, and even when not having fish ourselves, the odour of the special fish food gravy bought for Simona the Kitty has been pretty bad. Thank God for the facility provided by Municipality for the waste disposal, it has been mostly solved. Our garden does have some flowers to help with the problem, but it is still an “upcoming garden” with not enough to deal with the same – still, we adjust with what we have.

We also have the air freshener to deal with the same and hope that the fragrance stays. We haven’t had many visitors in the last few months, but when they do, there is the need to keep them away from any possible bad odour. We have that bad feeling about smell when we visit some houses, and lets not have the others to feel the same about our home – it is surely not a proud thing.

When it is a wonderful day and something smells dreadful, the day is not that thing of wonder any more. When the house looks clean and awesome and still the bad odour stays, home is not that good as you expect it to be. For this, there is the need for the #SmellytoSmiley effect with the Ambi Pur Air Effects. The monsoon season has started, even though it doesn’t look that convincing the amount of rain received. Lets just make sure that nothing wet makes it smell bad!

Closer to Radiance

There was a question which my mom used to ask me even from my schooldays. It was about how much water I managed to drink on a day. Drink more water for the skin was the idea. I never really managed to meet that requirement of twelve glasses of water and she decreased it to eight, and I still struggled to reach there. I cared very less about health at those days, and so the idea of giving the skin more water was rather lost on me. I hope to use that tip more in future though.

The next tip was to eat your vegetables, and you will be healthier and will look better with healthier skin. Then I was like, everybody knows that already and refused my vegetables as the grand non-vegetarian kid of the time. At that time, it felt cooler to refuse the vegetables, but not that much nowadays, with going semi-vegetarian. May be I should have done that a long time ago. It is good to eat some of those vegetables, and it is good for the skin as the earlier generation always used to say.

A few years ago, she had also adviced to eat less of the spicy food or it will show on the skin. She was against those grand Chicken Biriyani adventures which we friends had and had told to have vegetables meals even when we go on a trip. It sounded too much for us at that time, but nowadays, often I choose the meals instead of the spicy things. The non-vegetarian world was rather a smaller one, but it is the healthy one as she used to say.

There was also this advice from the past, about being stress-free, as higher the stress, more chance is there for skin problems, just like the problems inside our heads. The tip was to keep calm – never really worked out for me living a life surrounded by the pathetic relatives who judge people by money and job. Stress has been part of my problems, but may be if I could lie better, I could be further stress-free and live a happier life with better skin.

My parents had always adviced me not to play cricket at noon just because some World Cup or Mini World Cup is going on. This was kind of a regular advice given to me to save my skin from the sun, and even though it was repeated so many times, I used to play the whole day until late night at that time, something which started early morning. Yes, those days had me in direct contact with sun, and they were those moments which I could have avoided for the skin.

Mom had special concern for my Vitamin C. Yes, the fruits rich in that particular vitamin was a nice preference. It was something related to the human body’s production of collagen, and the skin was to benefitted from the same. I always loved the oranges, and so this skin-care tip worked in a much better way. Lime juice was also a regular drink which I had and so this one came naturally in favour of the skin.

#ComeCloser to Radiant Skin as VICCO Turmeric Cream could be a wonderful solution for the skin problems like oily skin, pimples and blackheads, and claims to have an Ayurvedic formula with special properties of turmeric; also known to prevent and cure skin infections, rashes and allergies, with some help in dealing with injuries too. There seems to be something quite interesting about it. Live Lodgycal Right Now

The title concerns Renault Lodgy, and it has become the new talk of the town now. This new car from Renault with competes with the market favourites like Toyota Innova and Maruti Ertiga surely has the strength to pull of a big win if you have a look at the vehicle as well as its features. Seemingly the most beautiful and also the more different among the cars of its class including the seemingly stretched Honda Mobilio, Renault Lodgy has definitely caught our attention. Lets see what our team has to say about what they wish to take with them on their next journey.

Vampire Bat: I am finally going to take this cup of tea with me on a journey. It has been a couple of disappointing long trips which I had in the last few months because there was no tea. One of them was on a harthal day that there was no option for having tea, which left me deeply hurt. I love the cup holders and flight tray here. This time, nobody is forcing me to miss my cup of tea; not even Uncle Dracula or those random humans who give regular dumb advice. I am going to bring my tea with me on this trip, and there is no force that can stop me.

Vampire Crocodile: Do you know how much I read? These people never really allowed me to take my favourite books for the journeys, but not now with all the space around in the Renault Lodgy. The journey should also be so comfortable and I might be able to read during the travel too. It will be an awesome ride. I am going to buy some extra books in the next few days for the same reason. We crocodiles are not known for being the intellectual ones, but I am going to change that, which is why this sojourn is going to be very special for me.

Vampire Owl: I am going to take these cricket equipment with me. It has been such a long time since I last played a cricket match. It has been so long that I almost forgot how hold the bat. This is kind of depressing for most of the Indians, and even I have always loved to play the game rather than watch it. I am going to take these equipment with me on the Renault Lodgy to the ground far away. Yes, we vampires play cricket too. You got any problem with that? We take flying catches, and we are the ones who first inspired the diving catches. Renault Lodgy has space for my full collection.

lodgy (2)

Vampire Alligator: I am taking my camera with the tripod. Renault Lodgy is such a beauty which inspires photography. I will need to stop it somewhere on the way and take a few awesome snaps outside and inside the vehicle. Renault Lodgy at a nice natural background – it will look too good; I am also hoping to extend the journey further to those places which are rarely visited. It will be like a world inside another world – an interesting thought for our annual meeting to ponder about, right? Yes, Vampire Hamster, you are next, in the absence of the Vampire Crow, Vampire Cat and Vampire Raven.

Vampire Hamster: I have actually forgotten my basic idea, but I am going to share these ideas from Vampire Panda and Vampire Penguin. They wish to bring their pets with them, and the latter also wants to bring his gaming console with him as it seems to be a major part of his life. The former wants to bring his personal computer, and that reminds me that I wish to bring the printer and speakers too. I think that Renault Lodgy has so much space that we should think about adding a few other things to the list.

That would be all the Team Vampire with what they wish to bring with the Renault Lodgy. They are not that different from us, right? What would be your things to take on a journey in Renault Lodgy? I am sure that Renault Lodgy has caught your attention as it did for me; it is something that Toyota Innova and Maruti Ertiga never did for me during the launch. May be Renault Lodgy has something special in store, more than what meets the eye with the first look. #LiveLodgycal

I’m participating in the #LiveLodgycal contest with Renault in association with BlogAdda to get a chance to be a part of the #LiveLodgycal Drive in Goa.

Into the Lodgy Universe

On 9th April 2015, Renault Lodgy was launched. It has been a much awaited seven/eight-seated car for some time now with a price range below Toyota Innova. It is also a lot better looking than the other cars of the same category. I find the front grills as well as the lights on the back to be unique. Originally named as Dacia Lodgy, with the Romanian manufacturer being a subsidiary of Renault, this car is going to make big changes in the automobile industry in India. Into this new Lodgy universe, I would like to take a few things.

Simona the Kitty: Well, Simona the Kitty hasn’t gone for a journey in a car yet. She has been afraid of the motor vehicles and runs away in case one of them comes any close to her. But she loves to rest under the cars or even around the tyres when the vehicle is at rest. With the new Renault Lodgy, we would like to take her on a journey, may be to our ancestral home or to one of our uncles’ places. It will explore another world for her, and she is going to love those seats.

lodgy (1)

The Book Rack: I have a small book rack in my room which I would like to add to the list of things to be taken along with all the books on it. The advertisement itself tells us to take our world with us, and there is no real world without the books, and these will nicely suit the bigger universe that Renault Lodgy has to offer. With Renault preparing to revolutionize the Indian automobile industry, I see no reason why those favourite revolutionary books are left behind during any journey – books are permanent need.

Badminton Equipment: The sporting needs get to another level now. Once upon a time, we used to play a lot of badminton at home. But now there are not enough people who are willing for a game, and our new place is terribly dull. So, it is time to take the game with us, and all these equipment will need a lots of space as we go to the relatives’ place. It is quite a big collection here which we have here, and it will be a pleasure to go for the game in a Renault Lodgy.

lodgy (2)

The Laptop and the Tablet: There is no life without the laptop, and the tab just comes as the plan B item in case the laptop turns to be not that good enough for the time. The laptop does weight a lot, and so my parents never really allowed me to carry something which took so much space in the car, but never more with Renault Lodgy and all the space that it provides. It will only be the second time that I take my current laptop somewhere; the first time being to Delhi for the India Today Conclave, and surely the first time for my tablet.

The Figurines of Saint Christopher and Our Lady of Good Voyage: There are two of these which I would keep with me to ensure the safe journey. The latter one has been part of my car for quite a long time, and along with a figurine of the patron saint of travelers, I would like to keep my Renault Lodgy a blessed place. These would be the fifth and final items which I would like to take with me in the Lodgy, as there is this car which asks to #LiveLodgycal.

lodgy (3)

It is the time to live lodgycal, with Renault Lodgy. Its spacious world makes sure that it is the universe that we have always wanted, and the power also contributes to the same. It is a family car – so we never really have to go without our people. You just need to go to their website to know how good it looks, not just on the outside, but also inside the grand new vehicle. There might be many cars, but Renault Lodgy is surely something which catches our attention quite fast. #LiveLodgycal
