Why do People Hate?

The question that has made me wonder today is about why people hate others so much. I have thought about this for very long, but today, I have felt it a lot more. I was wandering through some Facebook Pages and have managed to find too much hate. I see hatred towards people for the religion, nationality and many other factors, along with hating random people; none of them whom these haters have actually known in their lives. The most interesting thing is that these people have actually done nothing bad.

What I have wondered about the most is that people waste absolutely no second in thinking before abusing and hating someone about whom they know nothing about. Sometimes, a number of groups and pages on Facebook are responsible for the same. They come up with memes about random people and declare that a particular person got so many haters, and that it will be nice to hate the person. The result is that people get rid of their ability to think for themselves and begin to hate those people mentioned.

There is no celebration like a monsoon with the green trees and plants.

The abuse and hate comes down like the rain – there is no stopping them.

I don’t understand why some people think that hating makes them better people, and that it is cool to abuse someone because others abuse the same person. Do others decide whom you should love and whom you are to hate? Do these people even know why they abuse and hate this person? Some people come up with the idea that some celebrities have only some lovers and a lot of haters. But where are those sensible people who watch performances, and don’t come up with a conclusion about someone as a person?

I had enough of these fans of some actors fighting each other and spreading hatred against the other. Hating another actor doesn’t make your favourite actor any better; the earlier you realize that, the better. The strange thing is how the fans support sons of their favourite actors too – love and hate are somehow hereditary for them. I would say that there shouldn’t be fans and haters – there should be admirers of movies and performances. There is no actor or actress who has given perfect performances throughout their lives or has managed to do pathetic work throughout their chances.

One has to realize that people can only be themselves, not someone else. Just because someone acted in a movie you disliked or received an award which you felt is undeserving, doesn’t give you free chance for abuse and hate. Some people really need some special classes – love = good; respect = good; abuse = bad; hate = bad. Good people don’t abuse; they don’t hate others whom they don’t know for no reason. If there is something for which it is difficult to agree, people talk to each other like decent men and women, along with respecting the opinions of others.

So much green for the eyes, and for the camera - can't deny its power.

So much green for the eyes, nature is strong; but human hatred is stronger.

Among those who received these abuse and hate posts, the one whom I admire the most is Jude Anthany Joseph, the director of Om Shanti Oshana with his very nice reply to the abusers. He put the status that anybody is free to abuse him on his profile, but it is of no meaning; after finishing the hate comments, they can drink some goat milk and take rest due to the heavy effort; but nothing will change. People still abused him, and my respect for him has only increased. All this hate because he received an award? So called literate people! I will make sure that I will watch all his movies first day, first show.

If the abuse on Ranjini Haridas is brought to the scene, people can come up with millions of reasons, and so I will not go to that area – but I got to make the point clear that hate is not a solution to anything. But what surprises me more is the hatred for Rimi Tomy. There is no reason there, but haters come up with abuse for no reason. Movies fail and not all performances are good or even average, but that gives nobody the licence to abuse and hate. If you hate people so much, just think about yourself, one of your friends, relatives or at least someone you know at that position – will you still hate them? Or all these haters so perfect?

***The images used on this blog post were taken by me on my mobile. ****The hate theory is not one-sided, but is applicable also to the makers of the movie and their friends and relatives who abuse the common man; do respect the people who watch your movies and make them hits.

  1. Couldn’t have agreed more. This is a view I’ve held since the beginning, but people are just so judgmental and easily-offended these days that “hate” has become a fad. Remember the Maria Sharapova fiasco? How many people were quick to spew expletives at her because she said she did not know Sachin Tendulkar, their God! So what if she didn’t know? Big deal! I try to understand this interesting piece of psychology. This indirect happiness and offence taken.

    • Exactly! That was the big depressing event – it gave the world that kind of an idea about Indians. For these people, it is all about “my role-model”, “my God”, “my celebrity”, which everyone else should know and respect, and nothing else counts; if it doesn’t happen, abuse!
